We're currently aware of an issue causing the behavior you describe. We suggest you go to this Ongoing Issue and add your vote to it by clicking on the +VOTE button.
Make sure you follow the steps provided under Status Update as well.
It'll also be useful to subscribe via the three-dots menu in the top right corner next to the title. That'll make sure you stay up to date with any relevant updates about this.

Here is how I solved the problem:
1. Uninstall Spotyfy from your PC
2. Download an earlier version of Spotify.
I downloaded version 1.0.20.94 from 2015
You can download it from here: https://filehippo.com/it/download_spotify/1.0.20.94.0/post_download/
After installing it, access Spotify
I with this version I managed to access Spotify.
I went to About Spotify and updated them to the latest version of Spotify instead of installing it from the website and it kept me connected after the update.
