Did the default playlist sorting change?

For a while the newest added songs were on top. Now it looks as though the default recently changed so that the oldest songs are on top. This affects playlist you are following and playlists where you have followers. When people are checking out playlists or checking for new songs that have been added, they are expecting them to be on top. Why did this change?
