Discover recommendations gone

Discover recommendations gone

This week on my PC's the "recommendations for you" under Browse - Discover tab are suddenly gone.  It seems to be a problem with the service rather than some my set up or settings, because it's happenend on two different computers and platforms (my work computer using the web browser version and WIN7 Pro and my home computer using the app WIN 10).   I've tried closing and opening the programs and rebooting the computers.  Nothing works.

Discover recommendations is the way I use spotify the most so for me suddenly losing it is akin to suddenly not getting the majority of cable stations you're paying for. The only saving grace is that I still have it on my phone, which I can use to control my PC.  It's a pain but better than nothing.

I searched and found several other postings of this but no solutions, hence I'm posting it again.  Frustratingly, one post by kjon_1 on Tuesday has been closed, and all that's there is his initial post explaining this exact problem and then a message from the moderator saying, "Good news, kjon_1.  We're closing this now."  So helpful, moderators.  Thanks for keeping that up.

Spotify, please tell us how to get Discover recommendation back.

Thanks,

Chris

Hey @dinkledort! Welcome to the community!

That's not cool! To start, can you let me know what device, operating system, and version of Spotify you're using? Also, if you could send over a screenshot, that'd be great!

Have a nice day!

This just happened to me to, literally as I was browsing. It was there, then I went to the artist page for what I was listening to. Went back one page and it was gone. I closed Spotify and reopened a bunch of times. I'm on a PC, Win 10, Spotify version 1.0.51.693.g6ea1e7f6. See Screenshot below. The only items are New Releases, and "All types of Playlists"

Like the other guy, I use that feature all the time. I would be really, really upset if they took it away. That algorithm has been so spot on the last few weeks, I've found a lot because of it. spotify.png

OK weird. It's back now, but I'm only cautiously optimistic. Lt's hope it doesn't disappear again

happened to me and others about a year ago and they said they were removing it for some users as a test as it wasn't much needed. I was so frustrated as I use it a lot and didn't like being tested on. they eventually reintated it but by then I'd cancelled and gone to Google music which ha's overall better discovery. ironically I recently resubbed to spotify-and today this has vanishe'd again. please give a clear answer in this thread spotify.

My Discover now just has a few recommendations as opposed to the "you previously listened to..." section which I found very useful.

Deezer and Tidal suddenly seem attractive!

This just happened on my iPad.

If feature does not return I will cancel

This feature seems to disappear and reappear with no rhyme or reason as to why. Very annoying.

As with others this is the primary way that I use Spotify. I really get tired of the A/B testing stuff that Spotify does on paying customers with no recourse to opt out. It is very frustrating and shows a real lack of udnerstanding how some segments of the Spotify User community uses Spotify.

It is interesting to hear from others that Google Music has better discovery, might be time to investigate.

Hopefully someone at Spotify's Product Management team pays attention.

My Discover Weekly playlist is also gone from the Discover section on the Win10 application (no pending restarts, so I guess it's the latest version). I've managed to recover it from the Start page of the Android tablet app, but it still won't show there.

This is in my opinion one of the best features of Spotify. If it's not a bug and they're A/B testing it for a hypothetical removal, well...count another user here strongly opposed to the change.

On a partially related note, is there a chance of getting release notes accompanying software updates?

Same thing happend to me today. Instead of personalized recommendations I get annoying playlists like "love pop", "wake up happy" or "happy summer hits". But I'm so utterly unhappy. Recommendations were important to me and I used them every day.

mac OS Sierra 10.12.6, paid subscription (not for long if the issue is not resolved), logging out and in does not help.

This is still going on, I've been using the web-player through Chrome.

I am disappointed that this is happening without prior warning.

Focus on bugfixes, not 'features'.

This just happened to me as well, and it has a couple of times in the past year. It is INFURIATING because I always use the Discover tab and the Release Radar. Blah!!

This is happening to me, too. Whether this is a bug or A/B testing, it is so annoying. Discover is the main feature I use on Spotify. I hope it gets fixed soon.

Windows 10, app v.1.0.66.478.g1296534d.

Just had the same problem... It was resolved by logging out and logging back in. On the top right area of the main screen there should be a Down Arrow by your screen name (v)...click there to log out and then log back in. It fixed my discover tab instantly.

Great now mine is gone today. I use this function all the time to find new music. At this stage in the game, I do not know why they would be A/B testing this function. Also, I pay for this service so blocking me from it means that I am paying for partial service. I only have "New Releases For You" and "New Music Friday"...neither is very helpful to me.

Got the same problem today. Discover recommendations are just gone... Is there any solutin for it?

I had to delete and reinstall

As a paying customer - this infuriates me and is making me seriously reconsider my subscription. The Discover tab is the only thing that keeps me with Spotify and if they are going to remove it, then I will find another service.
