Are Spotify users able to cast music from Spotify software (Windows 8/10 PC), but I don't see my Chromecast Audio on my available device list.
I only see my 2 PC.
I tried on both my PC.
Could someone help me with this issue ?
Thanks.
P.S.:
I see ChromeCast Audio on my Android App.

Google’s Chromecast API only supports mobile, not desktop apps. It isn’t Spotify but Google’s lack of support. You can start listening via a mobile Spotify app and then switch to the desktop app once Spotify is active and has populated the Chromecast via the mobile API.
Google’s Chromecast API doesn’t support desktop.
Having the same problem, and opening spotify in chrome instead of fixing a bug is not a real solution.
If I am already playing music on Chromecast from another device, dekstop Spotify app is able to see the Chromecast.
Please fix the problem .
Hey @taccsi, as per the posts right above yours, Chromecasts currently do not have any support for desktop apps. The only way that you can control Chromecasts that are already streaming Spotify is through Spotify Connect. There is currently no possible way to set up a new stream to a Chromecast from the desktop app - this is a limitation of the Chromecast, not Spotify. Sorry about that!
Still don't understand how this is a Google limitation. The Spotify Web app can cast to Google devices, and once it is casting, the Spotfy desktop app can also cast to those devices, so clearly it is possible and the app features the appropriate SDK backend to do all the instructions needed to connect and Cast. It is more of a "hardware discovery" issue on Spotify's end in the desktop app itself.
I hope this is a temporary fix.
The given solution is a workaround, not a solution. Is there a way to make the Chromecast Audio visible on the Windows desktop application?
It's not a solution, but a workaround. At this point I don't know what's more buggy, Spotify or Chromecast Audio…
I am on the same page on this. Spotify should fix this that My ChromeCast (audio) is seen on my and the rest of my family's laptops too. The workaround using a tablet or phone first to make that connection is lame.
Brgds,
Bas.
There are so many basics that are not working with Spotify and third party hardware/software.
I need to start the Spotify App on my iPhone and then connect to my Google Chromcast. Don`t understand why my laptop is not able to see the Chromcast Audio.
It`s also just a workaround for me but not really a satisfying fix.
Other big issue is the 200 track playlist limitation with Spotify on Apple Car Play. Issue reported in 2015 i guess. Idea was marked as new idea but no fix at all since then. Just unsatisfying workarounds.
Or: why is there at least no button on Apple CarPlay/Spotify that allows you to discover a new artist or something else that might come close to a simple one button search function. This would be something that finally is distracting you not more from driving than for example hitting the "skip track" button on your head units screen.
Or: no dynamic song tags running over your CarPlay/Spotify screen
Or: blurred cover in the backround on CarPlay/Spotify
BASICS! 😄
Two years and this is still a major bug. Publicly traded company now, still can't find the time or money to fix this annoying, super-limiting and, candidly, embarrassing bug.
How do we unmark this as a solution so maybe the spotify folks will see it again?
I would love for them to fix this, might would pay for premium agan.
The solution would be able to stream directly from PC to chrome cast!
Its not working anymore. The cast starts then stops before playing anything.
The old saying"Money talks", If enough of us leave Spotify and move across to google music or another, THEN they might get the message. This thread has been active for years and yet Spotify shows contempt for its users by doing nothing and not even answering. I say, vote with your wallet and spend in other places.
I have used this very technique for a few years now, and now all of the sudden it no longer works. Really goes to show what a joke of a company Spotify is.
Hey guys, just re-posting my reply from a few pages back:
Simply put - Chromecast does not have an official API that works on Windows, so it is not possible for Spotify on Windows to cast directly to Chromecasts/Google Home devices. This is something that Spotify and Google would need to work together to accomplish.
The workaround is to cast first using an iPhone or Android device, then you can control it using the Devices menu on your desktop app.
In the mean time, please feel free to give some kudos to this awesome idea here: https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Connect-Show-Chromecast-on-Desktop-s-Connect-device-list...
Hopefully this will push the right parties to get this solution in place!
