will spotify be upgrading to flac support soon? and streaming in flac for higher quality music? if so spotify would be a leader in sound quality and would set it apart from other competitors. please consider this.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Deezer just announced Lossless format support!!!!
Probably FLAC
Shame on you Spotify team, you should keep being at the top
My sentiment exactly
Tidal is now streaming in flac. It sounds ....wow
WHERE'S OUR FLAC OPTION???? I'd gladly pay $15-20 for a FLAC option. Please Spotify. Tidal has it. Deezer has it. Come on.
Since I have a good stereo, I hear the difference.
I am switching to Qobuz:
Soundquality is good
Artist some less than spotify
3 users/devices on 1 account at the same time: no extra payment for family accounts !!!
User interface of the app not so good as Spotify (yet)
More expensive 19,99 instead of 9,99: however I already have 1 family member (14,99) so for 5 Euro extra you get sublime quality.
Its working on all my devices.
I am now converting my playlist from spotify using Soundizz.com
Goodbuy spotify: you lost the race
Just writing to add some weight to this discussion.
I've been a Spotify user for several years and am disappointed in the non-action of Spotify on FLAC support, seeing as all direct competitors now have FLAC support for streaming, I am hoping to have this implemented on Spotify in the near future.
Having trialled Tidal HIFI subscription for a month I was massively impressed by the improvement in quality of FLAC streams when compared to the highest bit-rate streams on Spotify (and Tidal's own non-FLAC streams).
I look forward to this feature being implemented on Spotify in the near future.
Cheers
Hi,
Thx. it is the same with Deezer. But I will never spend over 10$ per month for music-streaming.
come on guys! FLAC.. shame

Count me in as one who would also be willing to pay a higher fee for a "premium plus" type of FLAC plan.
This is purely an assumption on my part. Maybe Spotify has gotton so big and has so many subs, that they've become a bit arrogant and/or complacent.
Hi,
U can check audio frequencies depending on audio quality on the graphics here :

Ogg 320 is more or less equal to flac !
Here's the gamechanger:
Google Play Music - supported file formats
Google Play Music supports FLAC (after downconverting to 320K mp3 before streaming). I'll give Spotify a month or two at most to get with the program, then I'm moving to Google. I've been waiting too long (as we all have) for Spotify to support my large FLAC library. Not waiting any longer.
I can't get spotify to play any of my ALAC files. Upated quicktime and iTunes, still not working. Advice?
@edga9 How is this game changer? Google music is converting flac files to a 320kbs .mp3, which is not what we are seeking, as we could convert our .flac files to 320kbps .mp3 in any tool and then plays it on spotify.
Yes but there are plenty of songs in my music library that aren't on spotify in any capacity - so 320kb playback is better than nothing when making playlists.
You want to use spotify and FLAC files in one program? Check out "Tomahawk" you guys!
I am playing my Flac files in Spotify right now. For testing purpose, i sync those on my phone. It is working.
Is it a new feature ?
