My Question/Issue

So since the Big Update, I have the problem that when I add new songs(multiple) to a Playlist the order is not correct or mixed up on the Desktop app.
You see in the Pictures that I have the Song Intro going into Outro but in the Queue it shows the right order.

2.png

When I add Songs they are mixed but if I start with the Intro song it goes through the right Order.

It's only a Visual Bug I think cause on my Phone and on the Web App it is like it should be.
Hope someone can help me out.

Thank you

Edit:There was an Update like a few Minutes ago which kind of fixed it but now each Song from an Album is in the Order from last song to the first for example Song Outro is first and Intro is last one in Queue.

Hey @HikarinoMajo,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community!

Is the order reversed in your personal playlists or on the album page? Could you check your sorting options and see if that makes a difference?

In any case, it's also a good idea to log out everywhere and run a clean reinstall on all your devices, this involves deleting the cache files of the app and will force a account wide resynchronization of your info. You can have a look at this guide for the steps relevant to each device.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on how it goes.

Hellow
So Yes you could say the Order is reversed.
I use mostly the Date Added ^ as the Sorting Order and it was always fine.
It would add the Album in the Order the Album is supposed to be and Sorts them by last added.
But now it does sort by last added BUT the Album Order is reversed so the Outro Song would be the first to Play and Intro the Last. (See the Picture)

Order reversed.png

When I go into the Album to see if the Order is reversed in there too I see it correctly like it should be Intro first Outro Last.
If I would change to Date added v it shows everything in the Correct Order but I wanna have that in Date added ^

Right Order.png

But I don't wanna scroll down just to have the last added playing in the right Order.
Hope that makes some sense as I told it.
Thank you again ^_^

Hey there @HikarinoMajo

Thanks for sending us this info.

In this case, it's well worth running a clean reinstall to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble. This one is more thorough than the usual one. Also, make sure to download the app again from the Microsoft Store

If that doesn't do the trick, you should also check your host files. Even though it was written for another topic, this page has instructions on how to do this.

Keep us posted. Weโ€™ll keep an eye out for your reply.

Ok so I made a clean uninstall for Spotify with the Guide and a Clean install with the Microsoft Store.
I tried the thing with the Host files too.

Aaaaand sadly nothing changed except my again Download of 3k songs xD
It is a Problem not Only I have some of my Friends also have that and it is the Desktop App that has the Problem cause if you look at the Picture my Phone is also Sorted by Date Added ^ and shows everything in the Order it should.

If I can help or do smth lemme know
Thank you

Hi @HikarinoMajo

Thanks for your quick reply.

Could you try again making sure to select all the songs in the album and drag them to the playlist at once and see if that makes the difference?

From the artist profile you can also just click the album cover and drag it to the playlist.

Let us know how it goes.

So I removed the Songs from my Playlist and added them back in 4 different ways.
1. Dragging the Album with the Cover into the Playlist worked but the Order is reversed.
2. Selecting all the Songs and dragging them into the Playlist... same thing.
3. Dragging every Song single-handed in the playlist...also a no.
4. Same thing but I put the last song in first and it was in the correct order in my main playlist.

Hi there @HikarinoMajo

Thanks for trying those steps.

Just to confirm, did it work as expected with the last method you mentioned?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

I guess the reason why it ends up with outro first and intro last is that if you add the whole album then it starts adding the songs to the playlist from the top (intro) to the bottom (outro) and since the sort option is set to date added (newest at the top) then the the outro is the last one added. But still yes, the order on the desktop and mobile should be the same either way. It seems that the logic behind the sort order is different on desktop and mobile or something.

PS. How do you add the whole album to a playlist? Do you just select the songs and add or open the album menu and add it from there?

Yeah, the last method worked but that would mean I need to re-add all of the 3k Songs I have but that would not make any sense cause I could just drag and drop the album (before the Spotify Ui Update) and it was always in the right order on any of the dates added sorting Options.

Yeah, it's exactly as you say it sorts depending on the date added and reverses the Album if added together when sorted to last added.
But that wasn't before the Ui Update so I don't know if that's a Bug or Official now.

I add Songs mostly by selecting each song and drag them together into my Playlist.
(So I select Song 1 and Shift select the Last Song to have them all selected and drag them over like that)

Is there an option under the three dot menu to add the whole album to a playlist? Maybe that way it keeps the album song order? I donโ€™t have the new UI so I canโ€™t check this myself.

Also what happens if you select the last song, then shift click the first song and then add it to a playlist?

Yes there is the Option to add to your Library or add to playlist.
But it still sorts them reversed.
If I do the shift select the other way it also sorts them wrong in my Playlist.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop about this.

We wanted to let you know that we've passed this on to the relevant Spotify team and the right folks are already investigating the origin of this issue.

We'll make sure to keep you updated here in the thread so stay tuned for more info.

Cheers!

Yes this was one of the most idiotic things about the new โ€œupdate.โ€ COMPLETELY BROKE MY PLAYLISTS! Spotify, no body listens to albums backwards. Even if they did, they would add the songs one-by-one. Why would you remove the ability to keep albums in the correct order when I could use that to change the sort of my playlists while still listening to albums the correct way? Thankfully it still exists on mobile, but since they made adding to a playlist show the albums in recently added to instead of the far more logical order youโ€™ve set in your library, I have little faith Spotify will FIX this on the desktop rather than BREAKING the mobile app

Hi Ivan,

Thanks for passing this on to the relevant team. Just want to add that I'm running into the same behavior on Mac Desktop application version 1.1.58.820.g2ae50076-a.

That is to say, with the previous version of the desktop app I could sort playlists (typically of albums) by "Date Added ^" and it would display each album I've added to the playlist in the correct album order, and with the most recently added album at the top, least recently added at the bottom.

With the most recent desktop app revision, sorting this kind of playlist by "Date Added ^" results in the playlist still displaying the most recently added at the top, least recently added at the bottom, but the tracks in each album are in reverse album order.

This occurs regardless of whether the playlist was created before or after the release of the new app revision), and when adding an album to a playlist (either by dragging the album cover to a playlist, right clicking an album cover and selecting Add to Playlist) or otherwise adding a list of songs to a playlist simultaneously by clicking one song, holding shift, and clicking the last desired song in the list, then dragging the list of songs to a playlist.

Thanks!

My Question or Issue

Hello guys,

I've been enjoying the new update, but unfortunately have come across a couple of bugs.

One of them is this one: I have a playlist which I sort by date added (more recent first). When I play one of the songs there, the queue instead of playing downwards, is being played reverse, like if it was sorted the other way arou.

Example:

If you see this screenshot,

If I play music #7 "Will Do", the expected next music would be #8 "Undertow", but unfortunately spotify is playing #6 next in the queue.

Thank you for all the help

PS: creating a post in firefox is terribly glitched. I had to switch to Chrome and rewrite my post ๐Ÿ˜ž

Can we please give this some urgency, this is tilting me off the planet ๐Ÿ˜ž

Hey folks!

Thanks for your reports.

We appreciate your patience on this and we'd like to pass on everyone's details so that the team will be able to investigate this more quickly and efficiently.

Could you let us know your exact Spotify versions if you haven't already and your OS version?

The screenshots that @HikarinoMajo has included are very helpful, but we'll also be thankful for a video of how the whole process looks like.

Once again, thanks for cooperating with us on this!
