My Question or Issue

I am constantly editing playlists, when i go back and forth between viewing albums and then back to my playlist I find that the playlist refuses to load and the spotify client freezes, unless I scroll and then this is fixed, occasionally the client will force quit after too many times of not loading.

Hey there, thanks for asking!

I see you are having issues with the Desktop client. Have you tried a re-install yet? If you have and it did not work then I suggest you try a complete clean install of the Spotify desktop client. Here is the guide for the same.

In case you run into more issues, make sure to check out this nice guide for all troubleshooting Windows issues. Keep us posted!

Throw a like my way or mark this as a solution if I helped. ‌😊

Hey there @Neonwhitelion

Thanks for reaching out on the Community.

This doesn't sound right and we can suggest that you start by clearing your cache with the steps here.

It's also worth trying to disable hardware acceleration in the app:

  1. Click View in the menu bar.

  2. Uncheck Hardware acceleration.

  3. Restart Spotify.

Lastly we also recommend restring your router if the issue continues.

We hope this helps. We'll be here if you have any updates or questions

I don't think you realize just how bad this issue is, I've had spotify force quit over 2000 times and changing Hardware Acceleration, restarting my laptop, reinstalling spotify, logging out and logging in, none of these fix this problem.

and yes I've cleared the cache.

I love spotify, but this problem has me looking for other alternatives that don't force quit every three seconds.

Hi there @Neonwhitelion,

Thank you for your reply and confirmation.

Can you confirm that you followed the steps that's provided in this article? There's some more steps to help thoroughly uninstall the app from your phone so if you haven't, we'd highly suggest it.

We also suggest that you remove all lines from your hosts file by following the steps bellow:

  1. Open Notepad as an administrator (right-click - Open as Administrator)
  2. go to File - Open and navigate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
  3. Choose "All Files" instead of "Text Documents" next to the File Name box. You'll see a handful of files. Pick hosts and click on Open
  4. When the file is open, you will see a block of text with # in front of each line and might see entries like 0.0.0.0 website.com127.0.0.1 website2.com
  5. Check for any entries with Spotify in the address. Examples may look like: 0.0.0.0 weblb-wg.gslb.spotify.com0.0.0.0
  6. If you do find any lines with Spotify, please remove them
  7. Save your changes and restart Spotify

Let us know how everything goes.

Take care!
