Podcasts on desktop?

Solved!

Podcasts on desktop?

So i was listening to some podcasts on my phone, but when I'm at home I use Spotify on my computer. I can't seem to find the podcasts that I follow on my computer though. The only way I could do so is starting it on my phone and then connecting it to my computer which i find a little annoying. Is there a reason why they aren't on the desktop version?

Very annoying and I hope they add it soon.  I use spotify 95% of the time on my PC and getting a worse version of their service isn't doing them any favors.

I found an interesting workaround for this! If I'm listening to Spotify on my desktop, I can navigate to a podcast via my android app and play it, and it will start playing on my desktop. However, I cannot navigate to its detail page on the desktop by clicking the podcast title in the player.

Hope this helps some folks who are tired of waiting for Spotify to add podcasts to the desktop app!

Spotify, Dude. Fix this please

Hi,

I must agree. This is just unacceptable and is hands down a deal breaker. If podcasts cannot be played independently on the PC application then I'll cancel my subscription the moment my student status expires.

I love Spotify and their platform. In my opinion, there is no worthy competitor. But if cancelling my subscription is the only thing that I can do to demonstrate my disapproval then that is what I will do.

Please Spotify, please. Fix this immediately.

I want the podcast feature on desktop as well, but canceling the subscription is a pretty pointless thing to do if the lack of podcast support on the desktop app is the sole reason for doing so. Why? Because it will make absolutely no difference and also, as you said yourself "there is no worthy competitor". You're shooting yourself in the foot and Spotify is gonna keep on skipping, none the wiser.

"...if cancelling my subscription is the only thing that I can do to demonstrate my disapproval then that is what I will do." That is far from the only thing you can do. How about starting or simply taking part in a petition? Spotify is likely going to implement a podcast feature on their desktop platform if they have reason to believe that it will generate sufficient revenue.

"You're shooting yourself in the foot..."

No argument there.

"...lack of podcast support on the desktop app is the sole reason for doing so. Why?"

I don't think one should write off a feature like podcast support. I'm a huge fan of podcasts. Being limited to a mobile device when I'm stationary working on academic and professional projects is a huge deal breaker in my mind.

"How about starting or simply taking part in a petition?"

I'd love to start one. Any recommendations on how to do this? I know there's websites like Change.org but I feel that is sort of more for worldly issues but of course I could be wrong. A simple point in the right direction would be helpful. I'm not too knowledgeable with starting up petitions; especially the non-political kind.

Glad to know I'm not alone here. Very frustrating to pay for Premium and not get everything on the 2 devices I use. Please fix!

I second everything said here, how is it so difficult to add podcast feature to the desktop.. let alone there doesn't seem to be any explanation whatsoever.

This!! Please, Spotify, enable podcasts for the desktop client. I work from home and listening to podcasts via the desktop client would be so invaluable for me, as I'm sure it would be for many others.

Almost half a year that this issue has been addressed, and no response from Spotify. Horrible customer service. Even if this is something that Spotify cannot, or will not offer, at least commuicate this to your customers. There are other options where I can, and will, spend my money to get the service I want.

Hey everyone,

Just chiming back in here.

I posted my opinion on the matter a few weeks back how I felt this feature should absolutely be integrated in all Spotify platforms. It was suggested that I start a petition.

I'm totally willing to start one in hopes of at least getting a a response from Spotify. However, I'm not certain how to kick this process off. If there is anyone interested in participating and may know a bit more on the subject please feel free to chime in. I wouldn't mind doing the majority of the legwork I just need a viable direction to be pointed in.

Here's to hoping...

I'd sign it.

Ther is this thread too, that Spotify had replied to saying, "When we have an update about this rolling out to Desktop apps we will post here." However, that was back in August. https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Desktop-Shows-Podcasts-and-Videos-on-Desktop/idi-p/12823...

You may want to add a link to the petition in that thread as well.

Oh, nice! I didn't realize there was another thread that was already created regarding this concern.

Perhaps everyone subscribed to this currently thread should migrate over to the one you linked. Unite the numbers to get back into Spotify devs' peripherals or something...

Here's the petition in case any one wants to participate. If you should have any recommendations please express yourself freely for I encourage and welcome and support provided.

Thank you very much for your work. Signing and sharing. 🙂

This is ridiculous. My guess is that it might have something to do with the rights for broadcasting podcasts on desktops or something like that.

It is frustrating no one from Spotify is addressing this issue.

If I had to guess, i'd guess it had something to do with rights, too. And, if that is the case that is all that Spotify needs to come out and explain to their paying customers. The fact that Spotify has remained silent is what's the most disturbing to me.

Just went to look for podcasts on the desktop, spent waaay too much time thinking I just was missing something....  What the???  Agree with everyone! Incredibly annoying!!!
