My Question or Issue

Today I upgraded to the premium family plan. Everything works fine but it made the Spotify desktop app revert to the old UI. I tried restarting, re-signing in, uninstalling, nothing worked. How do I get the new UI back?

Edit: I just realized that while Spotify is minimized, or if there's another application over it, the multimedia control buttons (play/pause, etc.) on my keyboard don't work, they did before. This is a problem as I use them quite a lot.

Hey. I have the same problem. After upgrading to Premium the app changed to the old UI. Hopefully we'll get the new one back...

Hey there @LiamK and @Compero,

Thank you for your posts here in the Community. We're happy to help.

Can you perform a clean reinstall of the app? This will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

It would also be great if you can provide us a screenshot or a screen recording, and let us know which version of the app you have.

We'll keep an eye out for your replies.

Cheers!

with how utter garbage the new UI is, this would be a feature

Can't believe why would someone actually want the new UI lol

Hey there folks,

We're always testing things by adding or removing features to make Spotify better overall. We’re sorry that this means you’re not able to use Spotify like you wish to do at the moment.

You can read more about how your feedback reach Spotify here.

Once again - thanks for the feedback, we appreciate it. Let us know if we can help with anything else. We're always one reply away.

Has this been resolved, I still can't get the new UI back even after re-installing and clearing the cache folder. Its even still on the old UI when updated to the latest version (1.1.48.625.0) though the version on mine is (1.1.48.625.g1c87c7f7)

I tried the clean install like suggested here but am having the same problem as others. Just signed up for premium, restarted and logged out of the app. When I logged back in as a premium subscriber, I'm back to the old UI.

Has anybody found a solution yet, still got the same problem, clean reinstall didn't fix it.

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out.

In the upcoming weeks the new design will be gradually rolled out to all accounts. We recommend to always keep the app updated in order to get the new UI as soon as it's available. You can find more useful info on the new app in this Spotify Answer.

Hope this helps. let us know if you have any questions.

So "In the upcoming week the new design will be gradually rolled out to all accounts" means that everybody will have the updated design by the end of next week? This is the official deadline?

The press release on 25th of March: Introducing a New Spotify Experience Across Desktop App and Web Player — Spotify says:

"The new redesign for the Spotify app on desktop and web is rolling out to all users globally over the coming weeks."

It's been 4 weeks now. Just asking for confirmation regarding the deadline for the rollout.

PS. I still don't have the new UI.

Hey @AeroZ,

Thanks for posting and sorry for the misunderstanding.

I made a typo in my previous post, which is now corrected. The rollout will proceed over the coming weeks, however we're unable to provide a specific timeframe for when it will be complete. We appreciate your understanding on the matter.

Let us know if there's anything else we can help out with.
