Spotify crashes when adding/removing tracks from playlist

Solved!

Spotify crashes when adding/removing tracks from playlist

So I'm listening to a Radio, a song comes up that I want to add to a playlist, I click on teh album art and select add to playlist select the playlist then BAM music stops, dissapears. I'm rocking a W7 with plenty of memory (8core) NO reason for it to crash.

Also went to play Que to add the song Still crashes

If you can help it would be appreciated cause I'm getting angry.

It would be NICE if someone from the spotify' staff or from the forum's staff could confirm if the problem has been reported to the developers or not.

BASICALLY, the software crashes when drag and dropping tracks to a playlist or when deleting a track from a playlist.

Which is pretty ANNOYING considering the entire software is based on playlists.

Please tell us if your request has been taken into account OR NOT?

Thank you.

They are working with this issue, and dump-files would speed up the process. See the last post on page 32 and follow those instructions.

Attempting to link to that post, if that works. Those of you that have not yet submitted dump-files, please do so, since surely that will speed up the solution.

I'm also having spotify crash several times a day as I delete tracks from my playlist.  Especially ones just listened to recently.

I even used to be able to do the unthinkable and delete the track I was currently listening to - but no longer - crash.  I used be able to do this and liked this robustness.  I mean, I'm listening to some rubbish song in my playlist and want to eliminate it - its arguably a reasonable and common use case.

Surely this is easy enough to reproduce without our dump files?

Happy to send in some files but where to?  Do I have to send feedback and create a ticket or something then reply to that with an attachment?  Sounds pretty laborious and arbitrary.  Are there any more specific places to submit dump files?  Or do I just attach it here?  Is there any private info in my dump file?

I don't get the last post on page 32..

Contact us and then what. What do I have to chose from al those options you get..

Actually got a pop-up from Windows here on the work computer saying Spotify has crashed - first time there's actually some detail as to why it crashes. Earlier Spotify just disappeared completely upon crash.

Happens to me too.. used to be spotify never had any problems. Am disappoint!

This problem has been around for quite some time and still has not been fixed and there doesn't seem to be much information coming from the Spotify team as to an estimated time to fix.

I am a professional software engineer and would be ashamed if my company was ever responsible for such an issue. I would also be ashamed to recommend to users that they should try uninstalling and reinstalling the software to fix the problem, as this is a method of last resort and also a clear indication that the problem at hand is not understood. I would also be ashamed as a software engineer if I had been assigned this issue to fix and still had not fixed it after a week. If it has been fixed and is in the process of validation before release then why not let us all know.

This problem is so blatant and is being experienced by so many Customers it should have shown up in standard regression tests. If it didn't show up in regression tests before release then those tests need to be improved. It is also very easy to reproduce and so Customer dmp files should not be needed.

There seems to be a distinct lack of Customer focus in the engineering and release process. Please Spotify, once you have resolved this issue, take a step back and take a good look at yourselves and ask if you really are doing enough for your Customers. Your processes need to be improved when you have so many upset Customers otherwise you will keep losing business.

A similar Problem occured today. Spotify crashes when users add Songs to a collaborative Playlist.

Used Case:

- Spotify is open and running the collaborative playlist. Sound output over AirPlay.

- User on another computer adds a song to the collaborative playlist.

- Spotify crashes without notice.

When I add a song to a playlist from the artist page I have a small chance that Spotify will crash. And if Spotify crash I have a small chance to get a sound bug where the speakers sounds like if they are gonna explode and it won't stop until I restart my computer.. never had these problems before the last update what I know. Windows 7 ofc.

@Erixzon  Spotify closing after adding/removing playlist tracks is a recent issue being discussed in this thread. Merging your post into that thread.

Same problem here. It happens on the desktop version, under windows 7, after I add any song on a playlist from an album, other playlist or radio. I have almost 100 playlists in my account, maybe it's a clue, but, that issue start to happen since the last spotify update. I hope you solve this bug as soon as possible, this is quite annoying...

This bums me out! 😞

As a software developer at a much smaller company than spotify I too don't understand how they can let this go. I'm constantly building playlists and this issue is driving me insane. Found something very interesting though: while I'm playing music via the desktop app I keep the web player open. When I hear a song I like I add the song to my playlists via the web player (this is tedious because I have to manually search for the song and then add it to the playlist). Anyway, when I added a song at some point (via the web player) the application paused the song that was playing. The application didn't crash but the song just stopped playing.

Windows 8 Pro

Spotify 0.9.1.57.ge7405149

I started having this problem several days ago and it's driving me crazy. Almost every time I move a track to a playlist (drag & drop or right-click) the program crashes and i have to re-start and navigate back to where i was. it also happens when i delete a track from a playlist.

Tech guys, please get a fix in place for this soon as it's clearly causing a number of people serious irritation.

windows 7, spotify version 0.9.1.57ge7405149

Okay, maybe this helps both users and tech-team: whenever I drop a song onto a playlist, it often crashes, though not always. However, when I keep the song hovering over the playlist and wait until the playlist is opened before dropping it, it never crashes.

I genuinely cannot understand why you would let a bugged version of the client just sit out in the wild, when you could roll the users back to a stable version, while you work on the issue? Tomorrow will be one week without basic functionality in the client and we don't seem to be any closer to a solution.

Show some respect for the users who actually pay for this.

Using Deezer right now and no annoying dubble songs in my playlist, if this takes any longer than i am not going to pay anymore and leave.

So, the ball is in Spotify's court right now.

Hey people, try downloading and installing some of the previous versions. I tried with this one:

http://www.filehorse.com/download-spotify/13372/download/

haven't crushed (yet)

As a developer I understand that some things you can't predict, but seriously guys if this is going to take too long to solve why don't you direct people to older versions?

cheers everyone!

Problem is, it auto updates to the new version..

I can delete songs just fine right after starting up Spotify, but after listening to music for a while deleting makes Spotify crash. Happens on my computer at home as well as the computer at my workplace, so I've had this happen on two completely different computers. My friend also had the same issue on our work computer with his Spotify account.

I have been up and running fine this morning. Thanks y'all for getting this taken care of before I blew a gasket.
