My Question or Issue
This only started very recently, but now when I click on Spotify, making it the active window on my desktop, my computer lags heavily.
It is like my refresh rate is cut in half, my mouse stutters, and there are even weird artifacts on my screen (probably not the right term, but it doesn't look good - like grey lines through the monitor, as though I could see the strips of LED's).
As soon as a click away, so that spotify isn't my active window, all lag and visual abnormalities cease.
- The app is still quite usable, it's just frustrating and unusual.
- I have reinstalled the app. There seems to be no difference.
Any help would be appreciated.

Question:
Spotify on my desktop lags when it is the active window. Why?
Answer:
Hey @TitusPolitus
Thanks for coming to the Community.
I suggest unchecking Hardware Acceleration. You'll find it in Spotify: click the menu dots and go to View. This will restart the client.
It seems like like there's an issue with the graphics software and Spotify. I'd also recommend making sure you have all Windows updates installed, particularly those that have something to do with graphics (drivers and other software).
Let me know how it goes 🙂
Disabling Hardware Acceleration fixed it!
My graphics drivers are in need of updating now, but they weren't when this problem started ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My Windows 10 appears to up to date according to Windows Update Settings.
Thanks for your help @Sebasty!
