Stuttering & Slow Desktop App

Operating System

Windows 11

Installation Type: Tried both Microsoft Store and Direct Download

The Issue:
I am experiencing severe UI stuttering and lag. This has been going on since October 2025. When I click the volume bar or try to skip through a song (seek bar), the slider stays for a split second and then "snaps back" to its original position. Additionally, clicking "Skip" (Next Track) takes about 30 seconds to actually respond. Waiting for the next song to play automatically is around 2-5 minutes.

Everything I have tried so far (None have worked):

Reinstalled Spotify multiple times.

Cleaned AppData: Deleted folders in %AppData% and %LocalAppData%.

Swapped Versions: Tried both the standalone installer and the Microsoft Store app.

Cache: Changed the location of the offline storage cache.

Hardware Acceleration: Toggled this ON and OFF in Advanced Settings (no change).

Audio Drivers: Uninstalled old drivers and installed the correct ones for the new motherboard.

Windows Settings: Set "Communications" to "Do Nothing" and disabled audio enhancements.

Reset my whole PC and got a clean copy of Windows 11 running.

I feel like I have tried everything, yet nothing works. My other Spotify versions work just fine (mobile, laptop, web, even TV).

Update: Spotify is already slowing down again after re-adding less than 5,000 of my local files, where I used to have over 80,000 local files with no issues. Something else must have changed in the app that causes it to not be able to handle local files.

Another update: A little over 5,000 songs added, and it is slowly getting slower and slower. I particularly notice it skipping forward in a song (around 3 second delay), skipping to the next song (the "Now playing" display completely disappears and it looks like nothing is playing at all; can take around 7 seconds), and opening the "Add to playlist" menu (takes a few seconds to open and to load each folder). At this rate I don't think it will survive adding all my songs back in, but to be fair, it seems to be slowing down without adding any songs, so there must be something else going on. I hope there is someone looking into this because it won't be long until the app is unusable again.

There are issues with playback on my account. Tracks are skipping and jumping, and the overall quality is bad. I've also found that the desktop app is very slow.

I've tried closing the app and opening it up again and clearing cache, as well as closing down other browers and tabs.
