The application is not responding

Spotify gets unresponsive -> You close it. Try to reopen it and you get a message box with "The Application is not responding". Only works again if you go to task manager and kill any process that's related to Spotify.

Most people report the exact same thing and somehow it's marked as "too general".

you identified the issue people are complaining about in this response. it's expected behavior for spotify to display an error message after freezing and trying to open again. i think's its prompted by many different small things though. for me, it's usually once I re-open the spotify tab from "idling, hanging?" open for hours in the background and using other programs. it will say all my content is unavailable, initiating the cycle of closing it and becoming stuck. it still occurs for me as of April 2023.

It looks that they still can't find what is causing this issue. The app worked fine for me on W11 until February when "The application is not responding" happened on my computer. Since then, every time there's an update for my PC, Spotify works fine just for the first time after the update install. Once it's closed the issue starts again.... until the next update.

I've searched here, other forums, youtube videos, and despite all the possible solutions (reset app, uninstall, desktop installation, cache and temp clear, firewall, network) the issue is still there.

Even though the last activity in this thread is over a year old and the issue mentioned is slightly different from what I have to report, I will post my experience here as I am getting the exact same error message.

6 times out of 10, when I boot up my PC, I get the following error message displayed on startup:

Even if I get this error message, Spotify works as usual... at least Spotify responds on input.

With this post I just wanted the developers to be informed about this issue!

I'm using Spotify for Windows (64 Bit)
