My Question or Issue
The search function reached with C-l does not adhere to the description of the search function at https://support.spotify.com/se/article/search/
AND (+) and NOT (-) has stopped working. The search result does not respect those attributes. The search result contains lots of matches for only one of the search words, and also matches with no relation to the search pattern at all.
The search function has been broken for some 6 months, maybe later.
Hello Spotify,
can you please fix this bug.
Try searching on "bach mass in b minor anders eby"
- For album results, the expected album is on the top, followed by a bunch of albums that is not close to what I searched for.
- For songs, the expected songs are on the top, more precisely, the first 23 song. Then songs from a completely different albums turns up. And a few lines down from there, songs from the correct album turns up again. This is horrible.
- The result if you click on Playlists is just sad to see... A shitload of Spotify-playlists that has nothing to do with my search.
Hey @bosi,
Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.
We apologize for the late response. It'd be great if you send us a short video recording of what's happening, so we can better visualize what you're mentioning about the commands AND and NOT. You can attach the video in your next reply in mp4 format, or you can also upload it to YouTube or Google drive and make it public, so we can watch it.
We really appreciate the time you took to let us know this.
We'll be on the lookout!
Do you seriously not know what I mean with AND and NOT? If you read the help page https://support.spotify.com/se/article/search/, do you understand the description there?
Did you try my example in the previous post?
Try searching on "it is well -david" and click on Songs.
The minus sign means NOT. that is, I want search results that does not contain "david". But as you can see, the top song is by David Phelps. If i use "it is well NOT david" then it works, it correctly excludes "david" as far as I can see. This is not according to the description. The "-" sign was working before.
Furthermore, search for "it is well" and click on Songs. You will see a list of songs with "it is well" in the name. But a bit down in the search list, songs that are not close to "it is well" is listed. After 100 matches, it does a new search so from match 101 you again see a list of songs with "it is well" in the name. This repeats at match 201 etc. This is really bad.
Please fix this.
