My Question or Issue

Normalization is occurring when I listen to music both in the desktop client and the web client whether normalization is off or not.  My system volume is not changing, Spotify is ramping up the volume during quiet parts of songs, which ruins music with lots of dynamics like classical and prog rock.

Is this intended behavior?  When I turn normalization on and set it to loud, the music gets quieter overall, and gets louder when I turn it off, but either way the dynamics are getting ruined.  I don't want to switch services but this is making some music that I'm very familiar with sound horrible.

To be clear, this is not related to the whole track/album leveling that Spotify does to target -14 LUFS, this is about quiet parts of songs getting way too loud.

I'm so sorry, apparently it was my new laptop's audio drivers, there's nothing wrong with how Spotify is playing my music. 😓

I'd delete this message but I don't seem to have a way to do that.
