My Question or Issue

Since about September, my Spotify hasn't been able to recognise my MacBook or iPhone. Occasionally recognising my Google Home but unable to connect to it.  I really want to be able to control my music from my HP which is my work computer. I have uninstalled and clean installed the Spotify and even had IT check to see if they could see what was wrong and its not a user error. Please Help. I note that this is similar/ the same as another post where you linked it to an issue which says it's been fixed but I note many people since the fix including myself are still having problems.

Thank you.

Hi there @Vercoe,

Thanks for reaching out. When you say you've clean reinstalled Spotify, do you mean these steps here? Just in case, follow them thoroughly one more time across all devices, as we have noticed that sometimes one reinstall isn't enough. If the issue persists after that, check the app settings and make sure "Show local devices only" is turned off. You can also try creating a hotspot with your phone, connecting all your devices to that and then testing again if Connect works as intended.

Hope this helps.

Hello Joan,

Yes all of those steps were taken. Just in case I missed something I even redid it this morning and still not working.

Thanks

Jess

Hi there @Vercoe,

Thanks for the reply.

If reinstalling the app didn't help, the issue might be related to some networking restrictions on your device. You said you're using a work computer, so there might be some essential networking ports blocked by your system administrator either in the form of a Firewall or a work VPN, which are preventing the Spotify Desktop app from syncing properly with the servers. If that's the case, there won't be much we can do from our end. You can ask your system admin to allow traffic for Spotify if possible.

Can you try logging in with your account on another PC (Preferably not a work/ school machine) to check if your Connect devices appear?

Keep us posted on how you get on.
