this evening have started to get the message . spotify exe. no disc
there is no disk in the drive.please insert a disk into drive F. Not sure why. all i have done is turn on the computer and spotify loads as part of strt up process as is normal. Any advice ?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hey @jhamptonia don't worry, you're just in the wrong folder
Navigate exactly to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Windows
You'll then see the ErrorMode key in right
You're just in HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG instead of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
See my screenshot : )
Very cool! It worked!!!! Thank you!
Do I need to remove the 2 value that I put in the folder:
HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG instead of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
?
Thanks
Hey glad it's all sorted!
No, don't remove anything. After you've changed the value, close the settings, and hopefully, you'll not need them again : )
Great, thanks again!
For a non-PC register user like me...very easy to follow and fix! Thanks so much
I am on Windows 7 and this solution did not work for me because I could not complete the steps. There was no "Errormode key" in the HKEY... folder and thus no value to change to 2.
Any other tips of how to get around this?
Hi, I think I'm in the right folder, but there is still no ErrorMode as shown in the thread below. Where am I going wrong?
Hey @alexkachan
Expand the folder which is highlighted to you in the screenshot (Control) > Then find the folder Windows > click on it and you'll see the ErrorMode in the right window, where is (name, type etc..)
Thank you! Right as rain. Am back to listening to music. Much obliged!
Worked great for me thank you !!! Really apreciated
Hi,
i'm having this same problem too, but not sure how I change the value to 2 ?
I left cliked to modify. Is that right? but I tried to enter 2 but it wouldn't work
Hey @hey68!
No, double left click it (your is right click), and you should get a window like in the screenshot, change the value to 2 (2 not 02) there. And if you'd saved the changes to the one you've shown, change it back to how it was : )
If I click either way it comes up with the same box?
Click on Modify, not on Modify Binary Data : )
Hey back @hey68
Now I saw you've entered an Invalid value and you bugged the Key (if you see the message Invalid DWORD)
Fix this by going back to Modify Binary Data and add only zeroes (0) - See the screenshot, it should look like there
Then go back to "Modify" and change the value to 2
That has worked !!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
thank you so much! and for your patience!
YAY!!!
Yes I figured out what's happened, you entered a wrong value and now the ErrorMode is broken. Look at my above reply and try to fix it. If not working, try to delete the ErrorMode, Windows should automatically download it again after you restart your computer.
If still no success you should make a Recovery of your System for 1 day behind
Edit: Cool, glad it's worked!
Thank you very much.... that works
Thank you it was a big help i got that problem this morning after windows 10 do the auto update. Again Thank you for the help.
Thanks, it worked for me 🙂
Can I ask...
Why is this error happening?
What other programs or services are affected by making this "Error Mode" change?
Thanks in advanced
