Add support for Android TV

Android TV is Google's latest take on Android for the TV and is released with Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The first device running Android TV is Google's own device Nexus Player.

The good thing with Android TV is that it runs regular Android apps with some modifications and it also has built in support for Google Cast.

Even if we aren't getting a standaloneapp for the TV, we should be able to cast it onto the TV.

It's very sad that Spotify does not plan to support Android TV. Currently I've a premium account, but now I'm seriously thinking about switching to Google music. What's the reason for not providing that app? Or a connect option. That shouldn't be that much work

Likewise I have a Spotify premium account and I would really like for Spotify to have an app for Android TV. I now use my TV as my media hub in my livingroom and I want to be able to use Spotify to listen to music; Like the other user I am now thinking about switching to Google Music... 😞

So today finally I can cast Spotify to my Chromecast (original). But why can't I cast to my Nexus Player? You can cast everything else to the NP. Please, Spotify, enable casting to Nexus Player as you've done for the other Chromecasts!

Bought a new Philips Android TV this week and very disappointed to find out I can't use Spotify on it. Currently moved to YouTube playlists. Please reconsider providing Spotify for Android TV. Thanks.

I can cast to the original chromecast now which it's great......but .... I'm soooo disappointed that I can't use my nexus player with spotify too. I mean, both are google cast enabled, and I can't understand why two similar devices cannot work both with spotify. Yes it's true Google didn't mention nexus player literally but I was hoping to see this feature on nexus player as well.

Time enough to get Spotify casting to Android TV too.

Yes, could we pls have an official answer if Nexus Player will be supported? Casting to ChromeCast works fine, so why not NP?

Spotify is about to lose me as Premium Subscriber. If they won't support Android TV, I won't have any other choice but to switch to Google Play Music. Spotify doesn't care about you, unless your device has an Apple on it. Shame!

Why on earth is casting enabled for Chromecast but not my Android TV (Nvidia Shield)? Who benefits from that?

EDIT: I just checked the Google Cast developer documentation (https://developers.google.com/cast/docs/android_tv), and it says both that "your existing Cast application runs on Android TV with no additional effort" and that "making your Cast application compatible with Android TV requires very little additional work", so perhaps there is a little extra they haven't been bothered to do yet.

Fingers crossed they do so soon, and that there aren't some weird licensing or customer-hating reasons.
