[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Please please please implement this idea!

We need this yesterday.  Very dissatisfied with the controls provided by Spotify.  Definietly not listening to their customers.

Just signed up for Spotify so I can use their radio feature at my gym instead of having to make playlists all of the time. About 2 minutes after logging in I realized there's no option to filter explicit songs, and that this has been in discussion for 3 years. How is this possible??? Seriously? How is this not an option? I don't understand it, but I'll be canceling my new subscription and moving to either Google Music or Apple Music, both of which I believe offer this feature. Seriously. What are you thinking?

A post from spotify supporting the idea 3 YEARS AGO!!!

Status: Good Idea, give it some kudos

Hey everyone, Spotify Staff here again. We want to let you all know that we are continuing to keep an eye on this idea as it grows in the Idea Exchange. We don't have an update for you at the moment, this idea has the 'Good Idea' status. If we have any news around this feature we'll post here so you're the first to know. Thanks!

I would love to know why you haven't implemented an explicit filter - must be due to monetary reasons, please just tell us the truth why you won't implement...

Spotify doesn't answer much in this forum, but you can try their twitter support account: https://twitter.com/SpotifyCares

I'm not seeing the solution either. Considering going back to Google play because I can't block explicit songs in playlists with Spotify. Google music can block explicit songs; Spotify needs to catch up on this one.

I've really enjoyed Spotify (expect for the parts where profanity surprised me in front of kids) and subscribed for a long while. I've followed this thread for 6 months or so and watch the 40-60 messages come through per month.

But, alas the recent change in status with generic text encouraging us to give this idea more kudos is just too little too late. So, I'm out.

By the way I'm heading over to Google Play Music. I've demo'ed their service and found it more than a sufficient replacement. Playlists, instant access, downloadable content, etc. and a little checkbox ... Block explicit content in radio. Nothing grander than a one liner in the settings ... done.

See ya later, Spotify! Or maybe not ...

Why censor yourself by saying "bull *bleep*"?  Spotify loves profanity, freedom of speech, and freedom of expression.

WOW... Really??? I guess they do have the programming ability to accomplish some kind of censorship. Now it's just a matter of getting them to care about their customers...
