[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

This should be a no brainer honestly.

I hope this gets added soon!  I would gladly pay for a subscription if there was an option to NOT play explicit music, for myself, coworkers, parents, and children who also listen to the music on here with me.

It's been several years since this was originally proposed - how is this not a priority? It really can't be that hard to add a preferences option to skip explicit songs on playback - where are we at with moving this forward?

PLEASE MAKE THIS OPTION AVAILABLE TO FILTER EXPLICIT LYRICS!!!!!!!!! I pay for spotify premium, yet listen to my free Pandora oftentimes because they have that feature. The free version. Come on Spotify, you rock, now please your customers! 🙂 Family gatherings, personal listening, DJ wedding events, etc etc etc etc etc.

THANK YOU!!!

I haven't even opened Spotify since Apple Music came out. All my kids' music is now filtered. The Sporify UI is better in some ways and there are still gaps in some of the music, but I can't have another day go by where F-bombs are dropping from innocent sounding playlists.

Please add this. I hate when I'm listening and there are those words, especially when I'm running or with my kids around.

LOL! 3 years of comments and still this is "Under Consideration"!

This is why I chose to pay for Pandora.

I love the Spotify UI and the playlists I can follow, but something as basic and obvious as "block explicit" still not being a feature is beyond ridiculous at this point.

Enough is enough. Don't take kindly to be ignored or blown off, especially
when after researching I found out they offer both the explicit and the
clean versions of each album (where available) so all they had to do was
add a button to select explicit/clean for playlists giving the user the
choice. Cancelled subscription today and won't be looking back.

I think this idea would work well in the reverse situation as well. I loathe censorship, and have often had the experience with Spotify where I've added an "explicit" track to a playlist, only to hear a censored version when I listen to that playlist later. It would be great if such a button could always default to uncensored recordings when set as such.

guys. COME ON. this is a very simple setting. just do it already
