[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

You have 3 months to add it or it is goodbye. I am beginning to think that you think it is "HIP" not to have it. I don't like Apple, but I don't like being ignored more. Some of us are trying to raise our kids right, you folks obviously don't care.

Give up people.  Either their engineers are not smart enough to implement the feature (highly unlikely ), or the management for some unknown (probably monitory) reason will NEVER implement it.   I have already switched to Apple Music (not perfect but has the feature).

This should be a basic feature of any music service.

I realise that some people hold to the philosophy of hearing music as it was intented but some of us still have morals and prefer not hear offensive material. I would not choose to listen to music that lends itself to explicit lyrics (e.g. Hip Hop, Rap etc) but still get caught out at times. Some of us actually hate explicit material but love music and we should be able to enjoy without being offended by those with lower standards.

Please bring this feature ASAP. This is putting me off using this service as I know it will others. I'm thinking of using Apple Music instead which does have this obvious feature.

On our tween daughter's paid account we had the experience of a very explicit and nasty song play when selecting radio based on Pokeman songs.  How is that right?  Just a keyword tag relationship?  If Spotify can't organize the radio content that gets pushed to a user, then users need some control over what they want and don't want to hear.  Parental/user controls are just good business for providing a good, customizable experience for users -- especially paid subscribers!  That isn't censorship.  I don't believe in censorship, just choice. And common sense.

Allow parents to set controls over explicit content and features (like radio access). And get this done quickly!

Thanks.

@muppetbam just because people listen to a different type of music than you doesn't mean their morals are lower than yours. Who knows, maybe they are not even as judgmental as you.

We use two spotify accounts (premium) for out office and this would be great as some of the warehouse employees decide to play songs with the n word in it and this filter would be great to prevent that.

Seeing as Spotify do not reply to this 'Live Ideas/community' feed and incidently, neither does Sonos to theirs.  I decided to tweet them @spotify and @spotifyuk. At least I got a reply back to say that this would be sent to the appropriate department.  Not that I believe for an instance it will but companies always reply to tweets as they are in the public domain......

This may actually be a deal breaker. I left sirius and pandora to come to Spotify.  Atleast with Pandora I could have clean versions at work. Luckily I do not have to deal with kids listening to it. It's going to be a tough call especially seeing this topic being ignored for 3+ years.

YES PLEASE!!! I would love an Explicit button, that way we can use Spotify at work! I work at a very poluar, busy family restuarant and my and my co-workers love playing Spotify, but hate having to monitor it, since we are usually busy! This would be an amazing feature because it would allow us to use Spotify anytime without having to skip songs or worry!

This is the sole reason I and 3 of my coworkers have not purchased "Premium" accounts. We love to play Spotify over any of the other music apps but due to it being at work we have to have someone monitor the music as we unload the merchandise trailers at work. Get this implimented and I can guarantee more users of the app. By not doing so, you are only hurting your self and your subscription base.
