[Android] Android Widget

Having a home screen widget for Android would be really nice. All other media players have one on Android so it'd be great to see that in Spotify too. It'd make things so much easier to just be able control to Spotify from your home screen instead of swiping down for the notification bar or opening the app. It's really simple functionality so please can you add it.

Hey folks,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this idea in the Community.

We’re excited to let you know the Android Widget is back. To get listening, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app and Spotify will show in the widget menu on your device. The widget is now resizable too and some stability issues have been fixed.

What's wrong with you people, there at Spotify HQ ?! At least try to explain to us why you did the move on the widget and tell us whether you're gonna bring it back or just stare at this thread and laugh at us, for being annoyed and for wanting to use your product still, and not switching over to different music provider the second this happened.... cause sooner or later I WILL CANCEL my family subscription as well... I will not tolerate such arrogant ignorance!

Uninstall Spotify, download the old version of the app here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/6vxzybfy2p8l5mf/Spotify_Premium_mod_v_8.4.0.539.apk/file

Log in again

Put the widget back at its own place.

If the developers are such idiots, let's take some countermeasures to avoid them disrupting our user experience.

I'm using Deezer now. Canceled my Spotify Family subscription. Overall i still think Spotify is better than Deezer, but i vote with my wallet

Brossard76

My suscription finished yesterday. Deezer is my new music provider... more than 10 years and this is our break up.  The only thing that Spotify can hear is losing suscribers and incomes because is pretending to be deaf to our claims.

Can anyone at Spotify actually give us a reason as to why this was removed? Because that is not stated anywhere.

I really hope spotify can provide a further update by tomorrow or my sub is lost to them.  Maybe they think this is fine for them as I am just a vocal minority but other than this I have not been a thorn in their side, and really was the ideal customer I kept quite and kept paying.

As I mentioned in a previous post I think that it would be in their best intrest to not loose customers like myself as once I or others like me are gone we will not be looking back with any frequency.  In thruth, unless my new music provider takes some silly action that requires me to take my money elsewhere that may even be never.

Again I am hoping Spotify can overturn this decision quickly and provide a roadmap on the return of this feature but if not...giphy

I need my widget back. Now Playing Notification is useless.

Spotify...You have rapidly lost any reasons why I should keep paying $2 extra a month over Amazon Music!!!!

Well, I've had som complaints before, but I've been a paying customer for as long as I can remember, and I really really do like spotify, and it's features that makes them stand out from the crowd.

Maybe I won't ditch my playlists and all bc of this, but it's a truly crappy move.

As basically everyone else is saying, this was a horrible decision by Spotify devs. You're about to lose another long time family subscriber because you just made this app much more difficult to use on my Galaxy S10. I only used the widget app to control Spotify. Uninstalled, and running the older version. If you disable that ability I will cancel. Bring back the widget. Stupid decision what is wrong with your devs?? Time to find new ones that are actually competent.
