[Android] Rearrange Tracks inside a Playlist

On my iPod I can manually move my songs around that are in my playlist, but I can't do the same on my phone which is what I mostly use. It would be easier to have that option on all devices.

Hey!

The Spotify Community team here.

We're pleased to confirm that this feature should now be available to all Android users.
We'd recommend double-checking that you're running the latest version of Spotify.

Once again, thanks for showing your support here in the Community.

Hi all,

I spoke to Spotify' people on twitter and this was the thread -

Chat with Spotify

So if i understand this right, all we need to do is all pick the same comment and give it kudos. I think we should all choose the very first comment of this thread as they started it 🙂

Yeah sure.. Soon™ ... they clearly have something up with apple because there is no, absolutely NO other reason why they would not implement such an easy function to their android app. Shame on you, spotify.

@HappyDaysinHell It's the idea itself that needs the "kudos" votes, rather than any individual comment on the idea.

For what it's worth I've pointed out to them that their kudos system for determining development direction is flawed.

HappyDaysinHell

@aramando ah i've misunderstood. Cheers for clearing that up. Still, i'm surprised this thread hasn't got more kudos. Not sure people are upvotring it when leaving a comment maybe?

Who knows. Anyway, please upvote this idea everyone!

aramando

@HappyDaysinHell Yeah I've been puzzled by that too. There are ideas with up to 15x more votes (go into Live Ideas and click on "top ideas" to see the kind of features that are deemed so much more desirable, at least in terms of mass appeal). It's possible that people are commenting without upvoting the idea itself, although that could equally apply to other ideas. I think perhaps the fact that it only affects Android users is a factor, as many people will use Spotify via the desktop or iOS apps. I am also resigned to the fact that perhaps many people just aren't interested in choosing which tracks will be upcoming and in which order, although this seems incredible to me.

The trouble with the kudos system is that it doesn't take into account how much the lack of the suggested feature negatively affects users' experience. 5000 people thinking it would be "kinda cool" to have feature X will trump 500 people who get genuinely pissed off on a daily basis that they don't have feature Y that literally every other competitor app has.

I do care on preserving order, and need it mostly to fix a playlist when a wrong song or version of a song appears on my playlist and I want to replace it.

@aramando I can't agree with your second paragraph enough. For me, this is an essential. If i'm feeling inspired, I get on to spotify and make a playlist, or perhaps i'm thinking of someone and want to share it with them.

It's really quite laborious to make it on the go, and then run to a pc (or apple device) to tidy it up some.

If this wasn't in the apple side of things, then I'd perhaps have a little more patience (takes time to implement everything, sure) but the fact that its on some mobile devices and not others is pretty frustrating.

....and deep sigh. lol

Glad I switched to Apple music 🙂
Still nothing here lol

Dear Spotify: As we move to the cloud and start using Chromebooks and the like we no longer use a Desktop client.

If you haven't noticed all users that chose Android as their platform and will use Chromebooks or future cloud based OS are

now barred from re-arranging their playlists to their liking.

We might be a minority but it is an essential thing when you want to curate a playlist and share it with loved ones or friends.

Please, consider too (as other posters have well documented here) that currently this is something that can be done easily on your

competitors platforms....

Kudos to you if you evenutally realize you MUST change this as soon as possible (and specially because you do offer it on IOS and, as I have gathered, you are offering it too in your eventual overhaul of the web player.)

EarlPurple

In the latest version it seems to be "partly" implemented. Well not really.

You can apparently reorder in the play-queue indicating what is going to play. But you cannot still rearrange the playlist itself.
