Clear play queue

I have to restart my spotify when I accendently start a song from a search instead of adding it to the queue (happens often to me), would be lovely if there would be a clear button for all the songs added to the queue by spotify it self.

Updated: 2020-12-17

We're happy to announce that we have implemented the Clear queue feature on our mobile app as well.

Just open the queue and you should see the Clear all button at the top

Hey folks, you can now find a 'CLEAR' button on the Play Queue in your Spotify Desktop app.

If using Spotify on your mobile device you can check the songs in 'Up Next' and then select 'REMOVE'.

Thanks for your feedback everyone!

I understand that jumping to last song or juat staring playing a new playlist are workarounds. They work, and that;s fine. But one related problem is that once you played whatever you selected, once the queue finishes, it goes to something that you played before. In my case that is Am I Evil by Metallica. All the time it goes to that song (that's on the web player). So I want to clear so that it doesn't go anywhere. Why for the love of god it keeps going to that song?

Is this still marked as "not right now?" This was in 2012. Adding a clear queue functionality seems to be a rather minor addition. It is 2015 now, and there is still no ability to clear your play queue.

As stated by the above users, I noticed when I scroll to the bottom of my playlist/queue it clears the above music slections. I'm not sure if there is another way to go about this. BLAH..

DOES ANYONE KNOW: If a possible future update would make a simple way to clear out queues?

If you just skip through them all, it will clear it

That's not a solution though. If I'm driving and I've just hit play on an album or playlist, and it only plays one track before reverting back to some old queue I've forgotten about, spotify isn't working.

Workaround:

Click on the first song in the queue which was not added by yourselves.

All the previous added songs in the queue will disappear.

Now you can overwrite the rest of the queue by choosing a new song or album

A seemingly simple function that remains missing for 3 years.  Could it be that the technical solution interfere with their free version?  Or is the simple clear queue functionality patented by some secret patent troll.  Whatever is it, the lack of a straight forward explanation by Spotify leave me to doubt their sincerity in winning the music streaming business.

I subscribed to Spotify, Apple and Google Music to test out their offering and functionalities.  In terms of music offerings, playlist selections and general usage Spotify is the top.  But for queue management, Spofity is dead last.  Spotify should take lesson from Google and Apple in this area.  It is this alone that prevent me from commiting to Spotify as my sole source of music streaming.  Come on Spotify, shape up!  If I can help pls contact me.

It has been almost 4 years, more than 200 weeks, since the first post asking for "clear queue" function.

Yet, nothing from spotify.  It is not the free version, I am paying the premium and it does not exist.

I am giving it a few more days.  If not fixed, I will quit, and stop paying for premium.

You definitely have a point.  Why pay for something that does not provide something so basic?

I just unsubscribed from Spotify premium and sent an an emial to : premium@spotify.com complaining about this issue.

I encourage everyone to do the same. Meanwhile I keep receiving emails from this forum, if the issue was resolved soon enough, I may come back to spotify.

Happy new year to every one here !
