Discount Family Subscriptions!

Before I made the switch from Rdio to Spotify they (Rdio) came up with a pricing model that allowed families to purchase a slightly discounted subscription.

$9.99 for single unlimited user

$17.99 for 2 family members (20% discount)

$22.99 for 3 family members (50% discount)

Would love to see a similar pricing model so the rest of the family could get in on the action!

Hey folks! We've introduced Spotify Family. With Premium for Family, you and up to 5 members of the same household can each enjoy their own Premium account. All for one discounted price of $14.99.

Thanks for your kudos in the Community--we want your feedback.

Every thread about this subject gets directed here. The Original post was in Feb of 2012?? Why has this not been resolved yet. My Wife and I should be able to use the same Spotify acct without having to pay for 2. I agree on a discounted rate, but not 2 completely seperate accounts. Spotify gives 50% discounts to UK students? So the money isn't the issue appartently. Why not go ahead and do the model laid out by the Original poster?

Even xbox had to give in and create family subscriptions. A single user subscription is $50/year. A family subscription for 4 people is $100/year.

Also many companies give a discount for prepaying for multiple months such as 3month 5% discount, 6month 10% discount and 1 year 15-20% discount. . Given the current state of the economy, Spotify is a luxury, not a necessity and is something I will probably give up at the end of the month when my subscription runs out because I only use it on my asus android tablet either here in the house or in offline mode in the car, I originally came to Spotify because I couldn't find some of the music I like but Amazon, Google, Muve(already included in my cellphone date plan) are rapidly increasing their databases and I can find most of the things I listen to on spotify other places for less. I'd rather order the cd's/dvd's of the music I enjoy from Amazon, convert them to mpg on a thumb drive and upload them to my tablet than continue to overpay for your mediocre service.

Yep, another vote here for family accounts of some sort. NZ$39 per month is way too high for two kids and me I'm afraid

One thing is that Spotify is a personal account... ok. I use mine at home with my Sonos and of course on my mobile as well - now my wife is home and using our Sonos I cant use my account anymore while at work or travel. I am quite sure that this changed during the last couple of days... so: is this a good sign and family subscriptions will come or is this just a way to make happy users unhappy by trying to force them to have an extra account for home use.... and then again, I my wifes would be set up at home she could not use it when I am home and she is at work.... so please: make this work and do not overdo the price.

Just signed up to Spotify Premium, assuming that, like Netflix, you could at least streamn to two seperate devices/locations at the same time.

Netflix costs £6 a month.....

Spotify costs £9 a month.....

I don't understand how we can stream two movies simultaneously but not two songs when we're paying more.

£10 is the limit i would pay for my home to use Spotify, that's me and my girlfriend. Anything above that is a rip off.

TuneIn Radio is free and has a huge and brilliant selection of stations to choose from.

This is music, it's culture and shouldn't cost and arm and a leg........

Oh, and i'm cancelling after the 30 day trial, at least until this is resolved.......

Man I absolutely love my spotify.. my wife and I both work from home.  I have paid for the premium service to use while working at home and in our car from my cell.  It's silly we'd have to pay for a 2nd premium account to let my wife use it as well in her room.  I would be willing to look at a family plan.  Spotify I'm afraid you've dragged your feet much too long on this.  Pity really.  My friends online will ask why I've switched when they see my activity drop and I will tell them who I've switched to... dominoes.. they will also look at your competition and make the switch as they too have families.

Have you really given us much choice?  Hey email me when you've wisened up and I may switch back.  Thanks.

When I was the only one using Spotify, the $10/month was perfectly reasonable.  However, my daughter wanted an account, too.  Now my son wants one.  I am very seriously considering switching to Rdio, who offer an $18/month plan for two users and a $23/month plan for 3 users.  With Spotify, I would need to pay $30 for the same service.  I keep hearing that Spotify is going to add a family plan, but that has been for years.  I am going to make the switch  to Rdioif they don't hurry up and listen to their customers!

Any official updates on this yet?

I am totally for having family accounts, but for a reasonable price. I know many people that would join with having family accounts, and Spotify would be recommended a lot!
