Discount Family Subscriptions!

Before I made the switch from Rdio to Spotify they (Rdio) came up with a pricing model that allowed families to purchase a slightly discounted subscription.  

$9.99 for single unlimited user

$17.99 for 2 family members (20% discount)

$22.99 for 3 family members (50% discount)

Would love to see a similar pricing model so the rest of the family could get in on the action!

Absolutely can't wait for a family accoun in UK. I am not transitioning to Rdio progressively for my family.  Spotify - you have until the end of year before I cancel my subscription , and I can't imagine coming back as all my playlists will then be in Rdio.

Hey Spotify,

One of the other streaming services had a good offer that I jumped on. I save $8 each month with 2 subscriptions in the family compared to Spotify. It's not that much, but it's there. It turns out the other streaming service has a few extra features that I enjoy very much. But it has crashed a few times.

Anyways, just telling that I lost patience waiting for the family plan and thus stopped my premium membership. Maybe I'll come back when you offer a family plan (and a few extra features 🙂 ).

I became a Spotify user during the invite-only rollout & was a premium subscriber for about two years, but sharing an account with my wife was problematic. I like punk, metal, etc. she likes musicals, top 40, etc. My recommendations were all over the place. I won't even go into what I went through with friends who followed the automatic "listening to" posts on Facebook. Anyway, when Beats Music came along & we could have separate accounts (up to 5, which covers my wife & I, and as a bonus, our three boys can have their own accounts!) for $15/month versus share one account for $10/month, we switched to their service. Recently I made some changes to my mobile service which led to AT&T accidentally canceling my Beats Music subscription. I checked back & saw that Spotify had implemented some great new features like saving albums, improved UI, & artist curated playlists. Nice! But the pricing plan is still very limited. My family mainly listens on our mobile devices & will gladly pay for the ad-free music access but a multi-account option would be the icing on the cake. As the first music on-demand streaming service that went beyond the "personal radio" format and brought users a streaming online library, Spotify should have also been the first to offer this kind of pricing plan. It's good business, makes good sense, and is the right approach for your users.

I just opened a Spotify account (basic) and the first thing I looked for was a familly account option... well that was a quick dead end, sorry but this is a show stopper will look at other services now.

Just signed up for Beats Music 3 month trial which allows up to 5 users in a family for 14.99 a month. It will be hard not to switch to Beats for this reason (as much as I've loved my Spotify Premium) since my teenaged children are increasingly monopolizing the Spotify account. Any word on when "Spotify Family" is coming?

Guys, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Spotify account.  But, I'm in danger of losing it.  My wife and kids want access to it also and I can't justify $40 per month for it.  I've started a 90 day free trial of Beats Music which will only be $14.95 a month for up to 5 family members and 10 devices.  Please come up with somehting close to this or I'll be forced to cancel my Spotify to go with Beats Music.  I'll cry uncontrollably for days and you'll loose a loyal and vocal customer.  Help me help you.

Honestly guys...: Letting us use ONE account on TWO devices simultaneously should be nothing we should have to discuss about. I download music onto my Oneplus to listen to some songs on my way to work and back home. And when my wife wants to listen to something at the same time, I cannot even hear the downloaded songs. I think, with 10 million paying subscribers you won't go bankrupt being a bit more flexible.

For the $ paid allowing 2 streams seems reasonable, and technology wise it's obviously doable (Pandora, Beats, etc.). If this is not addressed soon you'll be losing another paying Premium account member.
