Landscape orientation on Android

I use my iphone in my car for navigation and music. I prefer for my phone to be mounted in landscape orientation for navigation purposes, but the spotify app is hard to use when it is sideways.  constantly changing the orientation is inconvenient.  Could spotify implement a landscape orientation? even if it lacks some of the less important features.

We are happy to announce that landscape mode is now on Android!

In order to be fair with iPhone users (half of the comments in this idea support iPhone) we have created a new idea just for iPhone users and added half of the kudos you folks added to this one.

Can't understand why such a mandatory feature isn't implemented yet. On a mobile device, especially on an occasion (in a car) that is obviously used in landscape mode like 95% of the time..

This topic is going on for more than one year now, and also the last update for IOS was without landscape mode in Iphone, same for last Android version (I'm using both),

Can Spotify at least answer to 2 easy questions:

 

where are the bigger issues on implement a landscape UI?

Do we will ever see this this feature on IOS version?

 

I'm paying the premium fee and bought an IPOD TOUCH to use it exclusively  with Spotfy in my car, spending a lot of money to use a wonderfull, but unconfortable service........

My dock holds my tablet horizontally. Holding my head at 90 degrees is a quite literal pain in the neck.

 

To be honest, I assumed I had rotation turned off when Spotify failed to go to landscape mode. I mean, it's such a basic feature that I kind of assume all apps will have it...

Same problem. I use a samsung mobile phone with a keyboard and a tablet with a dock (horizontal). BUT with this app, Spotify works fine in landscape mode : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.xdevelop.rotator_t. I hope that the Spotify team will solve this basic problem soon (moreover if we pay for this app and for a so basic option). Regards

Good news people i have spotify on my iphone and it is in landscape. I have been waiting for this too long now so I am delighted to have it. You have to have a jailbroken phone To get it. You just go into cydia and download an app called flex. U will have to pay 3.99dollars to get it. I was a bit sceptical of this at first but this program is worth the money and more. When u have the flex app opened it will give a list of all your apps and you can click into each one and there will be loads of cool patches that you can add to your apps. There is a patch for most apps on it for landscape which I thought was great as I use iphone in my car in landscape. It is  so easy to do. Give the spotify landscape patch a good rating when you add it as the person who made it for me was very helpfull. hope this helps everyone.

This is getting painful to read, how hard can it be to fix landscape on both Android and iOS???????????

Both threads been going on for the last year or so, fu**ing bat **bleep** crazy if you ask me as a Premium user.

Totally unacceptable.

 

I could live with it if...

(A)  100% free service.

(B) Other super serious bugs having preference.

 

But ooh no, we as users of the service have to install rotational apps on Android and iOS users need to jailbreak their devices AND buy apps... Anyone else that think that is fcuking bull**bleep**?

 

Nice work though implementing such "awesome" integration with facebook /S guess that is waaaay more important (as in destroying the good part of spotify with useless features)

As well as enabling landscape orientation, it would be nice if upside down portrait orientation could be enabled as well.  My phone (Samsung Galaxy Ace) has the Micro USB connector on the top which means that, when it is in the universal dock I just bought, it is upside down. I know this is more of an "edge case", and not many applications at all support this orientation but it would be nice if Spotify could support it.

My phone will only sit landscape in my car. Lack of landscape support is going to cause me to crash...

 

... I can't navigate my playlist whilst driving, I at least want to crash to an epic soundtrack!

I just wanted to chime in and say that this missing feature is a big deal.  I pay for Spotify exclusively so that I can use it in the car, where I use a dock.  I'm starting to shop around and if I find another service that offers landscape mode and offline music I will switch in a heartbeat.

What's the best for an alternative to Spotify? Pandora +, rdio? If I can find an alternate, I'm switching. What good are all my docks if I can't use spotify with them?

 

No landscape mode and I have to bail, let's say by the end of May? I love the service, but the lack of attention here is so bizzare.
