Make entire play queue editable

There's currently two queues in Spotify:

• The editable queue. ("Queued tracks")

• The locked queue. ("Next tracks")

If you press the  queue button with tracks in both lists, you can see that these two queues follow each other. The editable queue always plays first.

The problem is having a locked queue at all.

You can't empty it without interrupting playback, and you'll have to use a workaround to do so. You can't reorder it or add or delete songs. After finishing the editable queue, Spotify always continues playback from the locked queue.

The workaround is starting playback at the very last item on a page. The locked queue will then have no further items. Then you can continue by purely using the queue right-click function instead of double-click or enter. This adds items to the editable queue. These tracks can then be reordered and deleted as you wish.

This UI behaviour is, however, not very user-friendly and quite frankly really annoying. It's also very unconventional having two queues in a music player. I've never seen any other software using either a dual-queue system or a locked queue system.

I think it is pretty obvious that Spotify is trying to drive us to listen to certain artists.  And the thing is Spotify won’t deny it.  WON’T YOU SPOTIFY, YOU WON’T DENY YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE US LISTEN TO CERTAIN ARTIST TO BUMP THEIR PLAYS COUNT WITH AN UNEDITIBLE SHUFFLE MODE/QUEUE, DENY IT, I DARE YOU. Won’t happen.

Please please please make this happen. Having two separate queues with different rules is totally nonsensical and user-unfriendly.

It's been a huge bummer coming from Google Music, where queues work so smoothly, to such a stubborn interface. Spotify, please let me reorder the songs I'm listening to.

I very strongy endorse this. The inability to interrupt your play queue is exuberantly frustrating.

I had planned on submitting this as a suggestion myself. Even perhaps simply an extra button, such as 'Pause/Interrupt Play Queue'? There have been innumerable instances where I have wanted to listen to a familiar album, but simultaneously wished to pick up from where I left off on my play queue - which I would have been building up over the course of days and do not want to delete. It's actually baffling to me that update after update one still cannot interrupt their play queue for a moment to listen to something else - eg. when a friend comes round, who might not appreciate your current queue. Either that or you have to spend your entire time at the computer manually counteracting the enforcement of the play queue, or just delete it altogether - or save it as a playlist (which you can only do with the first fifty songs in your play queue...*deep breaths*...) 

For having people up to my house this has actually become a source of anxiety, as I rely on spotify solely now for my music.

Just came from Rdio.  Anyone know why the music queue stops at 50 songs?  I like to queue up 8-10 albums each morning and listen to it while I work.  This was any easy thing to accomplish on Rdio as it listed your full queue and summarized it by album so it was easy to read.  I could also rearrange anything in the queue.  Spotify does not summarize it by album and only shows me the first 50 songs.

You can get an Acceptable "Play queue" by installing 0.9.15 as at >> this link. <<

The only DeBug I know for the Unacceptable 1.0.19 "Play queue" functionality is to *Block version updates and *Install 0.9.15.

In 0.9.15 I always have my left-over Unplayed queue of about 5,000 tracks into which I *DeDuplicate and *Randomize about 100 tracks every day-- New Artists, acceptable Discover Weekly tracks, acceptable World top 40, . . . .

Whenever my left-over Unplayed queue falls to under 4000 tracks, I fill it back to over 4000 tracks from my *DeDuplicated and *Randomized list of tracks that I have not played in the last six months.

I admire your wisdom, @vyndicator, in noting this fatal and Unacceptable flaw in the 1.0.19 design and implementation.

This is another wish on the wish list- to see more than 50 tracks at a time.  I'd also like to see the song length in my playlist to know how many minutes I'm queuing up. None of this really matters until the queue is actually editable, so I believe that is the first step.

This would make me love spotify again. Google Play's queue system actually works
