Make entire play queue editable

There's currently two queues in Spotify:

• The editable queue. ("Queued tracks")

• The locked queue. ("Next tracks")

If you press the  queue button with tracks in both lists, you can see that these two queues follow each other. The editable queue always plays first.

The problem is having a locked queue at all.

You can't empty it without interrupting playback, and you'll have to use a workaround to do so. You can't reorder it or add or delete songs. After finishing the editable queue, Spotify always continues playback from the locked queue.

The workaround is starting playback at the very last item on a page. The locked queue will then have no further items. Then you can continue by purely using the queue right-click function instead of double-click or enter. This adds items to the editable queue. These tracks can then be reordered and deleted as you wish.

This UI behaviour is, however, not very user-friendly and quite frankly really annoying. It's also very unconventional having two queues in a music player. I've never seen any other software using either a dual-queue system or a locked queue system.

Google Play Music's queue system is really easy to understand and use. Just do what they do.

I can describe it by three (3) easy bullets:

• Double clicking a song starts playing it and adds the rest of the list that the song came from to the queue. (The queue gets overwritten)
• Right click one or more songs to add them to the top ("play next") or the bottom ("add to queue") of the queue.
• Everything in the queue can be removed or rearranged by drag-and-drop

EDIT: I updated the terminology to match the new Spotify. Items are no longer yellow and white, but are now under separate headings and in the same color instead.

whenever I sign on the old queue is still there. For a while it would wipe out when I turned Spoptify off. Now it's always going back to play songs I don't want to hear. WTF is going on?

Holy moly! Is it so hard to make a NORMALLY functioning music player? EVERY music player contains options to edit queue's and do all sorts of stuff except one of the world most popular and PAYED FOR music player: Spotify.

Now what I do is when there are songs in my queue I don't want to listen I
let move to editable queue and arrow them to the end as soon as they start.
Next step is to play everything with another music service.

This feature really needs to be implemented. Also need to be able to remove any song from the play queue!

The Queue looks good.  I like the <right click> "Add to Queue", and how the queued tracks as shown separately within the Queue. We just need a drag and drop functionality within the Queue, and a "Remove from Queue", or a trash can to drag to. That is all.

I highly recommend Google Music, it does everything I want, has a very intuitive interface, you can upload your own music and mixtapes that aren't in the catalog, and they are constantly updating and improving the system. From what I've gathered in these forums, Spotify puts zero time, money, or effort into improving their platform and interface. A shame really, as Spotify does have some really cool features and has the potential to blow Google Music out of the water.

I am using Spotify on a three month trial, the fact that this basic feature has not been implemented in over three years lets me know that my money is best spent elsewhere.

I would leave Spotify too if I had to use the faulty 1.0.x whatever player that you are using.

To get a real sense of the vast value in the Spotify catalog, you have to install a functioning player as follows.

* Install a functioning player >> at this link <<.

* Use the Randomizing panel >> at this link << to randomize your playlist-- by 1) Select all of your playlist, 2) Drag your playlist to the Randomizing panel, 3) Click the "Random" button at the top of the panel a couple of times, 4) Select the whole Randomized playlist from the panel.

* Drag your whole Randomized playlist directly to the "Play queue" display of your fully functioning Spotify player that you installed above.

* The resulting "Play queue" will all be in Yellow and fully editable.  Furthermore, when you close your player and restart, you will restart playing exactly where you stopped-- with all of your Play queue fully editable as you wish.
