Add "remove video content" option to Spotify Family

Please add an option to "remove video content" to Spotify Family! Since video podcasts were added, my children now watch videos on Spotify instead of listening to music.  I had given them unlimited access to Spotify (unlike other apps) because it was only used for music.

All you'd have to do is add another toggle for "remove video content" next to "Remove explicit content".

Spotify Kids is not an option for us.  My children are teens and tweens.  And because they're teens and tweens, they have a very difficult time turning off compelling video content (just like some adults).  If Spotify becomes just another screen to stare at, I'm not sure we want to keep our Family membership.

This post was submitted over 3 years ago. How much more time and subscription cancellations before you enabled this obvious feature?

It's been over 2700 votes at the time of this post. How many more votes do you need?

Like many others, just found out that Spotify is trying to be Tik Tok / Youtube after discovering our kids glued to the screens when we thought they were listening to music.  Deleting app.  Please fix.

Please add this option. It's infuriating when I want to listen to a music track not an overdubbed video.Yes you can switch to audio on each track but I shouldn't have to do that, it should just be optional. How hard is this?

Not just for kids, for meeeeeee! Goodness I don't want videos, they are a waste of attention and energy. Make Video a bolt-on extra cost and watch how NO ONE IN THE WORLD signs up for it. Waste of your time and mine.

Hello, we absolutely need this feature — just like all parents around the world. And it should be clearly presented to all parents who subscribe to a Family plan. I believe many parents take a long time to realize this and end up letting their children use Spotify without any parental controls...

This is exactly why I just closed out my family subscription. They're not listening, and we just have to come to terms with it

I may just resign from Spotify and choose something safer for my kids

I say we start a video podcast, and just promote the fact that Mr CEO
Daniel Ek, and/or whomever he inserts as his future partner Patsies, and
just speculate and wildly assume that since nothing is being done, and they
remain silent, that they not only are driven by an unquenchable greed, but
that they also are degenerate, wreckless, and morally bankrupt, promoters
of any and all things suggestive, and start mentioning their families, and
speak on if they don't care about their customers, WHO PUT THE SICKOS where
they are now, and seem to forget that, that the FILTH they must allow their
own children, must be at an abusive level. We'll just constantly run a loop
of Ek with horns and a deviate tounge and just run the suggestive s#!+ That
he's been doing nothing about, right along side his greedy little ignorant,
repugnant face. 😆😆😆

Maybe , just maybe, he may grow a sliver of a spine, or try to save face ,
but maybe we get some sort of reaction and acknowledgement... What say ye?

I love that my kids enjoy music — that’s what Spotify should be about.
But instead of exploring songs from all over the world, they end up clicking through endless, silly streamer videos on Spotify.

Why is there no simple option to turn this off?
Just a setting like: “Disable videos for this user”

That’s all it takes. It’s such a basic parental control feature, and it would make Spotify so much better for families who just want their kids to focus on the music.

(Spotify Kids isn’t even available in the Netherlands — and from what I’ve read, it’s not really a solid alternative anyway.)

Come on, Spotify. Please fix this.

They want the kids to dedicate their time to crappy & cheap video content instead of music- more value for less costs from their perspective. I repeat myself but: stop complaining, cancel your subscription and move on! It’s the only language Spotify may understand.
