[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

I would like the ability to remove triggering content from the top-left, most prominent position on the home screen. I would like to hide "**bleep** Town", "**bleep** City", and other pornographic content.

This "shows to try" thing is creeping up my home page... I can't get rid of it. Drake and SameyNuRapper3000 are gone now, which I appreciate, but did you really have to put something else that's just as irrelevant to me in their place? This time it's not even music? The content I have Spotify Premium for....?

I have never listened to any podcast on Spotify ever. I am not interested. Now it's recommending me podcasts I hated when I didn't have Spotify. I don't want Critical Role' to greet me so I can remember how podcasts like it ruined  one of my favorite hobbies, every time I open Spotify.

PLEASE let us get rid of this. The price of premium is being raised but I'm still plagued with ads!

People mentioned Deezer as an alternative. How is it? Is it worth switching?

I just want to make the further contribution that even if Spotify has no plans of ever making the home screen customizable, they should at least get rid of some of the ridiculous things that currently show up automatically. For the past several months, the top of my Spotify is filled with an album I listened to for a bit, a podcast that I occasionally listen to, and a "See beyond the headlines" tab that is filled with Spotify original playlists and a Duolingo Spanish podcast. It is not just that I have no interest in these things, I actively do not what to be suggested these things. There is something very frustrating and annoying in the thought that some algorithm has attempted to read my interests and then gotten so confused that it cannot make any other determination besides making the almost comical suggestion that I "see beyond the headlines" with an entirely vapid and irrelevant podcast about Spanish. I have not listened to a podcast in months, so even if we are not going to be allowed to customized the home screen, the recommendations should at least not be terrible to even look at.

Do to increased BS propaganda on the Home Screen my last remaining year is my last. People can create their own home servers and stream their own music or audiobooks with zero Obama smears

Spotify doesn’t care if people who pay for Premium find it annoying.  It’s another way of monetizing the app, even if it causes a small % of users to switch.  Tidal or Deezer are no better.

I see this is a very dated idea. Perhaps it's worth a second look?

In my case, I have no interest in Audiobooks, but it takes up prominent space on my home page.

Additionally, I would love to be able to move the 'ribbons' (recently played, made for you, based on your recent listening, etc) up and down. In my case, 'uniquely yours' is not very useful to me and I'd like to either delete it or move it further down the page.

Anyway, thank-you for your consideration.

Hi Phreesh, thanks for your contribution. Would think the idea is rather
generic : bring control over what is highlighted to each individual user.
All of us will differ in what each of us finds not wanted, inappropriate,
etc..I'm happy that we all are of many different preferences. But we
agreed all on to be able to control the home screen's content. This a very
long standing debate and in now way outdated. Yes , ignored by Spotify,
which looks most like an monopolist attitude.

I'm going to switch to another service very soon if I cannot get rid of those damn podcasts and other spam ads which I am apparently paying for!

I don't want the god damn mcelroy brothers! I am so not interested I have been avoiding them forever, and now spotify is forcing them onto me. Can you at least pick podcasts that are somewhat relevant to me? PLEASE.

You should apply the same abilities on your recommendations to weekly music playlists to your suggestions on the home screen.

Honestly, the horoscopes showing up at the top above things I listen to is getting so annoying. I continue to accidentally click on it when I am in a hurry. And unlike when you suggest songs I don't like I can't "hide" or "dislike" so it is forever there.

Why pay for a subscription for a service that is supposed to be smart with it's suggestions? I can go to Apple or Amazon. If these horoscopes keep up, I will switch to free and subscribe elsewhere. Prioritizing the ability to remove things from the home screen that your users abhor should be a right now problem. It is a recent add, and it is not appreciated. If it was prioritized as an addition, it should be prioritized as a removal. At least the option to dislike things that you display to receive feedback as you do for music. This should work for podcasts as well.

The following was also posted in a separate topic, but a mod referred me to this one, so I'm adding my own two cents.

Another reason, why this is very much needed:

For a couple of weeks, I've not dared to open or use my Spotify when I was at work or with friends, due to not being able to customize my home screen.

The reason for this was because my girlfriend and I had been in a romantic mood and decided to give erotic podcasts a try (while I/we normally don't listen to podcasts at all). We didn't like it and stopped after trying 2 or 3 of them. And here is where it all went to 💩💩💩💩....

Since listening these podcasts, both the home screen on my Desktop and my Android app were suddenly promoting erotic podcasts way to prominently (see images below, always on the 1st or 2nd row, upon opening the app), even emphasizing it was because I listened to these erotic podcasts before. A private matter, which I don't need my friends or colleagues to know, when they look over my shoulder when I open Spotify..

Android - My 'topshows'Android - My 'topshows' Desktop - "Populair with listeners of:"Desktop - "Populair with listeners of:"

Only since today they are gone, which is either because a kind moderator removed it for me, after reading my topic about it, or because enough time has passed since I listened to the podcasts. If this had persisted, you would've lost yet another subscriber to ignoring customer wishes.

Not being able to do ANYTHING about stuff like this yourself, is a complete fluke and should be fixed by Spotify ASAP.
