[All Platforms] Customize Start Screen

This is not a new idea, but I haven't found any practical reply to it, so I think it needs to be repeated. I completely agree with Rennestein (screen capture below), we need to stop seeing irrelevant suggestions because it is annoying. Why can't it be possible to decide what we first see when we open Spotify on any device? (playlists, recently played, artists we're following, etc), and enjoy better our Spotify experience?
Please Spotify, let us have the home screen as we'd like. :)) Thank you!

Hey folks,

We appreciate you sharing your feedback on the Community and showing your support to this idea.

We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement. If we do have any new info to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

Update from the 23rd of Feb 2023:

A new feature was recently introduced in the mobile app which you may find interesting as it allows users to remove content recommendations from the subfeeds (Music and Podcasts & Shows) of their Home screen, thus expanding upon the current customization options and offering a improved, more personalized experience. You can find more info about it in the Status update here.

Thanks.

It is insane that this has been demanded for so long with no action.

Guess you really make some money out of pushing stuff in front of us that we don't want. It's appalling. Give users some basic control!

@Phoebus_apollo, The best thing to do is just discontinue your paid subscription and go find music elsewhere. I discontinued mine almost a year ago. This has been a major complaint from everyone for several years now. With Hoda & Jenna on the Today Show, Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, and even the new movie, Geni,  on Peacock advertising Spotify, they're not going to worry about what their paying customers want. If everyone cancels their paid subscription and goes elsewhere and doesn't purchase music from their supporters, they might actually start listening. The only reason I haven't actually deleted my account is because I enjoy getting a notice when people like you post their complaints here, so I'll know if Spotify actually does something about what everyone is complaining about.

I have not looked at other platforms. I just get my music from iTunes and put it on my iPhone and listen to it in my car. I stream my iPhone to my car stereo. And I listen to AudioBooks  using the Chirp App from https//:chirpbooks.com, and I can stream them to my car also. I am a member of Amazon Prime, but haven't tried their app yet.

Good luck!

Start leaving 1 star reviews on app stores, stating the reason. Complaining on this thread doesn't affect them.

I am absolutely begging you to, at a minimum, keep your "Episodes for You" to episodes from podcasts that I actually follow. Or let me right click on that episode to remove it from my desktop app. Sometimes I listen to mindless podcasts when I work as background noise (which I like!), but when I actually sit down to listen to podcasts to learn, I do *not* want them recommended to me.

I use Spotify, and haven't switched, because it can cast to my google speakers. But I am a hair away from tossing my entire sound system, switching to apple compatible speakers then going back to Apple Podcasts. It will be expensive, but worth it so I can avoid being autoplayed podcasts that I actively dislike.

It is absurd that this isn't even being considered for implementation for premium users. Paying for the service means you don't get to force feed content we have no interest in. Youtube has this option and very frequently tries to poach my subscription from Spotify.

SPOTIFY- STOP RECOMMENDING THE JUNK THAT YOU PRODUCE. IDGAF about Alice Earles, Emma Chamberlain, Bill Simmons, Ryan Russilo, Just Trish, Armchair Expert, Joe Rogan, the WSJ, Serial Killers, Conspiracy Theories, the Unplanned Podcast, Full Send, Shawn Ryan, Rotten Mango, Mike Baker, Theo Von, PBD, .... I hate all this junk. Yet it all shows up every day because Spotify produces it. Is there a way to turn podcasts off? I'd rather use something else for podcasts.

It’s absolutely ridiculous that’s we’re in 2024 and the simple feature to remove content that you’re not interested in from your homepage has STILL not been implemented. It is the most big standard, basic feature you could implement to allow even a modicum of user customisation. Get it together Spotify and listen to your customers. This has been an ongoing issue and request since at least 2018.

Spotify has added 2 random playlists to my home screen and recently played, that I cannot remove. Now this is confusing the playlist that I request for, and my speakers will play some random playlist Spotify put onto my home page w/o providing the option to remove playlist. PLEASE ADD THIS OPTION TO REMOVE THESE PLAYLISTS FROM MY ACCOUNT. This request has been asked from other subscription holders since 2018 and several times again in 2020. There is no reason it cannot be fixed immediately.  When we all pay for a premium service, we expect improvements. Thank you!

So, 14k votes and the response "We're setting this idea to 'Not Right Now', as this isn't something we have any immediate plans to implement." is such a great way to say we care about our users and their experience...

I keep getting a suggestion to listen to a particular podcast, and I can’t get rid of it. I don’t know who Mel Robbins is and I am not interested in her opinions. When I am finished with a podcast I actually chose and enjoy, this Mel person keeps automatically jumping the line of my saved podcasts and starts playing. Does it make the algorithm think I want to listen to her, because I didn’t get to my phone quick enough to turn off Spotify after my favorite podcast?
