[All Platforms][Other] 2-Factor Authentication

Spotify should, as a matter of good practice and safety, implement 2-step authentication.

Previously, Spotify enabled the option to log out other sessions other than the current session.

This would prevent hackers from stealing accounts, which would additionaly lead to less account hacks and less work for Spotify employees to assist in these cases.

Hi everyone, thanks for bringing us your feedback in the Spotify Idea Exchange. We’re ready to mark this idea as ‘Under Consideration’.

We are currently investigating various solutions for account security for our users, e.g. 2-factor authentication. Any news regarding user-facing security updates will be posted to this thread as a status change.

If you'd like further information about protecting your account please visit our Support Site here.

We need the ability to have email verfication when ever someone or even ourselves tries to change our password or change our email. This can help prevent unauthroized changes to our account if it gets hacked.

Amazon music, Apple music, Youtube Music, Google Music all support this feature. XD

Instagram just rolled out 2FA.

At this point there is no doubt Spotify is just a ship of fools.

At least Spotify fixed my account with one hour. When my Instagram got hacked never could reach anyone (even after 15 attempts) Eventually had to have all my friends report it so they eventually shut down the account but I was never able to recover it. If you not an " influencer" Instagram really doesn't care.

Jesus H **bleep**ing christ I Just git hacked AGAIN!!!  Why am I paying 16$ a month for soneone else to use my account?

Youtube just launched its music service. If you don't want to lose my business to them, implement this NOW!

How is this not in the plan right now ?!? This is standard security measure and should be included with all big software, as every other major company has 2-Factor Authentication implemented.

At least support 2 factor from google, spotify is now one of the only services I use regurarly where I do NOT have 2 factor, it's amazing how this is not supported yet.

Really considering moving to Apple Music or Google Music that both support two factor auth.

I am an ex-user of spotify premium. I do not use spotify at all, currently. The only thing stopping me from returning to the service is two-factor authentication.

When I left spotify, the customer service in handling my issue was abysmal. My account was compromised multiple times. As a result of the incompetence in Spotify's team handling my issue and the repeated occurence, I simply discontinued my use of the service indefinitely.

I would like to give you money, Spotify. Please give me the security to do so.

We NEED to have the option for two-factor authentication! I pay for premium and I keep getting hacked even though I've disconnected from Facebook, changed password on my e-mail+spotity and clicked the "logout everywhere" button several times. No, I don't click weird links and no, I don't download files from weird sites. Yes, my firewall etc is working. They don't change my password but they listen to artists and genres I dislike (meaning, I'm unable to use the recommendation option) AND they interrupt me listening to music. It's really pissing me off and I've decided to cancel the premium until we get better security. It's ridiculous how such a great program (yes, I do love having Spotify) doesn't have two-factor authentication yet even though so many people have this exact issue (plus, many are paying customers).

You are just opening Spotify to a class action lawsuit.

I've had comment notifications turned on for this post for a while now, and I get several e-mails a day with people saying Spotify NEEDS this feature. I don't understand what on Earth makes Spotify think they don't need it at this time. Spotify is one of the biggest companies and music platforms right now and they haven't bothered to keep it secure. If I had paying customers one of the first steps I would take would have been 2 step authentication. It just doesn't make any logical sense to me as to why Spotify thinks they don't even need this feature.
