[Amazon Echo] Alexa controls via Spotify Connect

There should be a way for any Echo to control a remote spotify connect.

say my speaker that has spotify connect and is playing Elvis. I should be able to use any Echo to change that remote speakers playlist, song, artist etc. The new playlist, song, artist etc will start be playing on that remote spotify connect but controlled by any Echo.

Hey folks,

We’re always working on improving the Spotify experience across platforms, but we’re afraid we don’t have any further information to share at the moment.

We typically don't announce integrations with third parties in advance. The best place to keep an eye on is our blog for news updates about any such partnerships.

Thanks for continuing to share your ideas and give us feedback in our Idea Exchange.

Or just have the ability to change tracks without taking over the audio. Ridiculous!

I expected this behavior given how Spotify Connect works on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android S2 Tablet. I would consider this a defect rather than a new idea. I have an Onkyo receiver connected to a house-wide set of speakers and had been using AirPlay with iTunes when I tried Spotify. The behavior of remote control of any remote Device caused me to subscribe to Spotify and dump Apple Music. This is a very powerful feature,  controlling a Remote device streaming Spotify. Right now I have to disconnect my house receiver from Echo 1, stop playing, walk into the other room, start playing on Echo 2, connect Echo 2 to my receiver. I should be able to just remote control my receiver from every Echo in the house.

I have the same problem as everybody above. Please could somebody get this fixed. I have told all my friends about Alexa and they all think she's amazing and have nearly all bought one. All have said how cool it would be to be able to remotley control Spotify on another device from Alexa. This would be a masive feature for both Spotify and Alexa! What an advert that would be on TV...'Alexa party mode' Alexa would then play Dance Music on Office PC and Connect to Airplay Group on Airofoil' as this is how I have my setup. This would then distribute all music playing through Spotify to all my rooms in the house. I just hope that Amazon, Logitech, Apple, Airfoil, IFTTT, Google, Tesla, Microsoft and all the companys that make this fantastic technology would realise that the world would be a better place if all software and gear just worked together. Man will be able to do anything eventualy, why not make it hapen sooner by talking to each other. The technology is all there it just needs nitting together.

+1 Really need this feature. I just bought a Dot because i was sure this was possible and i just can't understand how this is not yet possible... 😞

Dude1893

I have 4 Panasonic all players 1St Gen with Spotify connect and no restreaming

As synchronized music is not possible with echo, I also hope for a Spotify connect skill for alexa.

What do you developers think about that?

Something like

Alexa play Music on devicex

Of course alexa should remember this setting if you further switch playing, artist etc. Just like in the Spotify app.

Is it realistic that we'll see something like that soon?

As Spotify Support is part of Alexa's main features, Everybody should send this as a feature request to the Amazon Echo Support directly!

I guess they are the people who can change this, rather than Spotify.

If we are loud enough maybe they'll hear us 😉

Awsome.

it's a missed chance it's not possible by default, but first step to implementation is made by the voting.
