[Android] Landscape mode on Now Playing view

When using my phone in the car I put it in a car holder. The holder is horizontal in order to have better view for navigation etc. I use spotify also a lot in the car but when using the playing music I'm not able to rotate the screen but the playlists dose rotate

please bring it back!

auto rotate on now playing window is not working (eg going from  a landscape playlist view, touching now playing, the view rotates to portrait. using this in a car has obvious distractions involved, as i can not properly read/control the sreen anymore .

currently using Xiaomi note 3 running android 8

I didn't read all 9 pages of comments to see if anybody mentioned this already, but there are a number of rotation control apps on the play store which can lock and force orientation in a number of ways. Many of them have global settings which can forcibly rotate everything including the home screen, and per app (and other conditional) settings. This is an adequately effective workaround for me, though I do agree that Spotify's neglect of the issue is quite disappointing.

Thanks for the heads up! Wasn't aware such apps existed.
Now forced Spotify into landscape for driving, adequate workaround. But Spotify seriously need to sort this.

Hi all,

Finally THEY DID IT! I don't know why no one con Spotify came here to announce it, but now we can activate car mode in Spotify app, so it has a landscape mode again !!!

Just go in settings of the app, there is a new section (screen capture from my mobile which is in French) :Screenshot_20190909_165332.jpg

The automatic option is really good so it only use car mode when the phone is paired with a car Bluetooth system.

Thx Spotify for the option, but - 1000 for your community managers (if there are) for never responding in this forum.

I don't have this Option (left screen). Right screen is from the internet, it should be between "Devices" and "Social".

It's the latest available Update, 8.5.22.734.

I have a Xiaomi Mi9.

Are there certain conditions that have to be met for this option to appear?

I am using Honor 10 with Emui 9.1.0.326, I have deleted and installed Spotify app many times, but my screen doesn't turn to landscape mode when using coverart.

I would like to see a landscape view of the player screen too as my charging port is on the bottom of the phone and I have a Logitech K780 Multi-Device Wireless Keyboard that holds my phone when I'm using my PC and charging my phone.

I put up with it for now, I switch the the playlist queue that is in landscape, but then I miss out on album art or the artist video.

*an update*

With the addition of Car View, you do get a landscape player, however the buttons are huge and it looks clunky. You also miss out on the album art, which admittedly you don't look at closely when driving, but I use it to identify the song or artist at a glance rather than reading the title, which actually makes it safer. It wouldn't be too difficult to make a landscape player would it? The rest of the app already works in landscape so can't the player too?

I posted months ago, and after trying to fix this again came back to this thread to find that not only have spotify not done anything about it despite the strong community feedback that this was a terrible idea, but have actively decided not to do anything despite this being a very simple fix to implement, I mean you could even just have an option in the settings to toggle between new style and old style if you wanted to. Dissapointed. They have the code already for both the new and old versions, why is adding a toggle to choose so hard?
