[Android] Remove the Shuffle / Play Button

Hi, I tried out your new design, which I have mixed feelings about, but nevermind that. The most annoying thing I come over in the new Spotify (for iPhone by the way) is the dumb, big, overlapping, unnecessary shuffle play button that pops up everywhere. Is this a bug or is this on purpose? Could at least had add an option for it. Also, it doesn't look streamlined at all with the current design. Did it even occur that not everyone wants a shuffle play button?

Updated on 2020-11-04

Hey folks,
As some of you will have noticed, this has changed on iOS.
We've updated the idea, so that we can update everyone more accurately with regards to Android.
We're marking this as a 'Good idea', too.
Please know that your feedback is reaching the right teams here.

We'll post an update if anything changes!
Thanks

SHuffle now seesm to be the defaul,. with Spotify starting albums on a random track.  Starting the album by clicking the first track allows you to turn shuffle off, but the album has already been shuffled, so clicking to advance the track takes you to a random track

Can one not ssimply disable and enable shuffle globally?

Agree totally, hence me searching the community.  If I just want to listen to 1 song for a few minutes, I no longer can as it automatically goes onto shuffle.  I've now started using YouTube if I just want to listen to one song instead of spotify, because of this.  Please give us back another option.  Thanks, Gillian

Is there any way I can play a symphony or an opera in the proper order?

Starbuck01

since when is shuffle a good idea when there's lists for a reason? i have a pc, windows 8.1 phone and android tablet, ios is not any use to me as i have no such device. but seriously? shuffle?

also can i add that with it being so close to ads on my mobile devices it opens stuff and has cost me to remove malware that ads seem to keep trying to install - might need to start considering who you show ads for too.

1 more nag since shuffle was pushed os us, why trend differently on all three of my machines? i search what i am looking for not what most listen to (i am happy finding new stuff my way)

That button is not funny anymore. What's annoying is Spotify's batlant refusal to improve it.

Leave the Big Play Button there by default, on shuffle by default if you will, but make room to change it's behaviour in the settings. Big Play Button: Toggle shuffle on / off. You can always rummage for the crossed arrows button if you eventually feel the urge to shuffle something.

That way nothing will change for the hordes that apparently use it, but it won't offend the people that can't even think of a reason to derange songs.

Or make to big buttons: Judicious Play and Shuffle Play

Unless there's a Reason we just can't see? Please let us know. This is just silly.

>To Dean, Meredith, and everyone,

>  I think it is a waste, of time and a mistake, to mess, with the "Shuffle Button". Although, you have the right, to dislike it, I think you don't fully understand how the application works, maybe just the benefits, of the button. You can play, the album, or playlist, from the beginning, as intended, by tapping, or clicking the first song. You can also take the music out, of shuffle mode, at the bottom, of the "Song Full Screen", across, from "Repeat". If anything, the "Shuffle" and " Repeat" should also show up, when the full screen is dropped, on each side, of the artist and song/album title, where they are basically already lined up, at (Shuffle left and Repeat right). This would allow quick access, to them, while elsewhere, on the Spotify application. I also like hiw the big "Shuffle Button" stays, while you scroll, so you can hit it, at any time.

So one person likes it - all we're asking for is a play button with equal prominence. This is the most basic requirement for a music player - and the one thing missing from the design of the user experience (UX) of Spotify.  You know what - everything else about it is awesome.

You say if you fully understand the application then you can play an album in order, unshuffled but why should you have to invest time to work that out when it should be the most basic of all operations!? It should be prominent and one click away - frankunabia seems to have not worked out that he can click on the first track to play the album in order.  I can tell you why - the tracks don't look like buttons so why would you expect them to perform an operation. The big green thing - that's obvious, so let's have one more green obvious button!

It's useless - I'll be going back to Apple Play after my trial ends - get rid of the POINTLESS button!

Kidrambler

Get rid of the Shuffle Play button!!  It sucks balls!!

I think Spotify keeps that button because many people use it. I click it sometimes, too... by accident, of course, it's so insanely big!

I have family premium but I am unable to listen to the album tracks in order. It always shufflkes the tunes and plays them randomly. What's the deal?
