[Android] Remove the Shuffle / Play Button

Hi, I tried out your new design, which I have mixed feelings about, but nevermind that. The most annoying thing I come over in the new Spotify (for iPhone by the way) is the dumb, big, overlapping, unnecessary shuffle play button that pops up everywhere. Is this a bug or is this on purpose? Could at least had add an option for it. Also, it doesn't look streamlined at all with the current design. Did it even occur that not everyone wants a shuffle play button?

I agree! Please get rid of the shuffle play button and make it 🔀 like every other music player ever. I want to listen to an album in the proper song order, that's part of the enjoyment. Have a button for play album and another for shuffle songs.

What is wrong with you Spotify?  I was amazed there are 6000 search entries per Google about this. I just wanted an explanation of what the feature is supposed to be, like whether premium users can have a Play button on their iPhone app (like we can on our Mac app), and I find there's just a world of people trying to figure out how to turn it on, turn it off. What is your deal? (Premium user here, by the way.)

After having used Spotify for only a day I am already annoyed by the stupid, pointless shuffle button. Why is it displayed? A play button would make much more sense, but I think that one can do without either.

This has been answered before. To play an album or playlist in the intended order, simply click on the first track. That works, unless the playlist is marked with the "shuffle" flag, in which case you have to go into the track information and uncheck the shuffle flag (which looks like an infinitity sign).

I originally joined in the complaint here about the Shuffle button. But now I've most made peace with it, knowing that you can play the album. I find Shuffle is useful for my compilation playlists, but not useful for albums by a single artist.

My remaining complaint is that the Shuffle occupies too much screen space, and it should disappear when you scroll down the playlist.

As a Spotify premium user I would like the ability to play albums from song one until the end. Can I turn off "shuffle" listen to my music and then if I decide at a later time to shuffle again? Basically I would like to have my albums start at the beginning and not start the play shuffle and then sweep backwards to get to song 1. Can I do that?

Of course you can. Just tap the first song and immediately tap the small shuffle button (when you bring up the song screen), if it's green, to turn shuffle off. It's always been an option to not shuffle.

Paying for premium should allow albums to be played in the order that artists intended. Forcing shuffleplay on paying users is inconsiderate.

I'd guess that this is an intentional feature aimed at reducing artist payouts. If random, less popular songs are played then I assume that less is paid to artists. There is probably even a threshold before any payments are made, so for very unpopular songs, which get played "at random", I bet nothing is paid out at all.

If a company forces a feature like this on us, despite premium user complaints, I assume there is money involved.

I can't believe it's still a thing. Just resubbed to see if any actual UI improvements were made - mainly this annoying, giant shuffle button. Looks like I'm going back to Amazon Music!
