Go Back In Queue

After queueing up a selection of songs, it's doesn't make any sense that when you press the back button to replay the last song it jumps back to whatever you were playing before the queue AND removes the song you went back from from the queue. "Back" should take you back to the last song you actually played! Playing a song from the queue shouldn't completely remove it from now playing, Apple Music doesn't do this. There's zero benefit to the way it functions right now, it only ruins the moment when you're in the zone listening to music and it doesn't behave the way it should

Ok, I am reposting here because of Luan's post. Come on people, please upvote this idea.

Everyday I get frustrated because this is a simple, yet very useful, feature that Spotify does not possess.

Let me tell some reasons why:

  1. After one song on the queue finishes, I "just" want to be able to repeat it, pressing the back button. This obviously does not happen;
  2. It also provides (in a negative way) some sort of anxiety, because if I want to repeat the current song that I am listening , I cannot let it finish - I have to press the back button before it happens - otherwise the song is gone from the queue;
  3. Because there is no "Play Next" button, there is not an easy way to repeat a song. Let's say a song for the queue finishes and you want to relisten it, but your queue is waaaayyyyy too long. It just does not make any sense that you add a song to the last place of the queue - because it is the only way - you have to go there and move the song all the way up. You maybe have the will to do this once or twice, but after several times doing this with long queues, it is infuriating;
  4. Moreover, the scenario presented on 3) is not possible, say, when you are driving. If I am driving and want to repeat the last song, I shall be able to tap the back button of the audio car system and relisten the song without going to my cell phone, which obviously would be dangerous - I do not have spotify embedded on my car.
  5. Now let's go to what user tintinstardust said above: say that you have a long queue, 100 songs. If you accidentally press the 98th song, all the remaining 97 songs are gone . All the work of organising a queue, the way you want, is gone;
  6. Say that you add a new album to the queue. And then for some reason - say you went to talk to a neighbour - you missed some songs. You shall be able to tap the back button as long as you want in order to go back to that album, right where you started to miss it;
  7. Say that you have a queue/album and you want to search for a specific song that you musically remember but you don't remember its name; you shall be able to "surf" within the songs of the album in order to do that. You cannot do this because as long as you move forward, the previous songs are gone. It is kinda dumb that I have to go to Youtube to search for that particular song without messing up my queue.

We need queue history so we don't have to go to recently played.  I most of the time just want to like the song and follow the artist

I am not sure why Spotify moves back to the previous song ignoring the whole queue. No other streaming service [I am coming from YT Music] or even local music players function like this. Spotify here is the exception, rather than the norm. Add to it the lack of a Play Next button [The Add to Queue puts the song at the end of the queue, IIRC], Wear OS problems [I posted a problem about it yesterday] and Bluetooth multipoint problems relating way back to 2020 that are unfixed.

Instead of fixing the existing problems or giving customizability [like I wish to remap the plus button to add songs to the most recent playlist instead] , Spotify is adding features no one asked for [does any one wants AI generated cover images?]

This is really stupid.

So, I was listening to music on a Bluetooth column, but I did not have my cell phone close to me. The current song was ending and I was enjoying it a lot and wanted to know which song was and listen to it again.

I had to stop what I was doing and press the previous track button to repeat it - I cannot let if finish, otherwise it was gone! There wound only be an alternative and painful way, which was afterwards going to the "recents", trying to know which song was and add it to the long queue and drag it up all again to the top.

It would be so simple If I could just press the previous track button the number of times until I find that particular song.

Because the previous tracks dissappear from the queue, it is not possible to do such a basic function.

Yes, make it happen.

Basically like apple music. when you skip a song in queue it actually stays there and you can go back if you accidentally skip a song or if someone skips it but on accident while participating. like the songs that were previously in the queue and they would be at the top.

Today spotify was momentarily offline while I was at the gym, with my headset. I decided to listen to some old MP3 I still had on my phone, also using a MP3 player from there.

I enjoyed a lot 2 songs in a row. When the 3rd one started, I wanted to listen again to those two songs. I just had to press three times the previous button of my headset, and puff, there it was. No need even to go to the cell phone.

If only one thing so simple would be possible on spotify...

With a very good morning for friends and family I was absolutely approving Spotify IPhone app along as an alluring ambient AM audio. . .and then the next song played as I moved into car to find that no matter how many times I pressed back the audio was over.

I searched to be sure that the Spotify app was not troubleshooting or that I made an error to see years of other Spotify accounts complaining about having their time musically removed because the Spotify app is unable to play a previous song while the daily Spotify app shows numerous Spotify “It’s New Music Friday!” lists of songs that I did not search for and have not heard instead of being able to repeat a song that played less than 5 minutes ago. This is such a disappointment to have a personal soundtrack removed because Spotify does not allow a previous push but has sponsored ads to show. I am new to the premium monthly account after years and suddenly less interested. Even a You Tubeing dot com allows us to play the previous song 😞

Make it possible to rewind tracks added to the queue that have already been played.

Because once you've listened to a song, it disappears from the playlist and you have to add it back to the queue. It would be better to be able to return to it at your convenience.

JoséWordPlayer

Replying to last post (Erwanpacou's): worse than that, is that is barely impossible to perform that action if you are on the app (with your cell phone) and you have a huge queue.

Because on the PC, you still are able to do that by searching the previous song and add it to the beginning of the queue, manually. But, on the app, as there is not also a Play Next button , you are only able to add it to the end of the queue.
