[Music] Custom Start & Ending Times for a Track

Hi.

I'm a big electronic music lover and there is only one feature i would like added to spotify. The option to choose a part of the track i would like to play and have the settings saved.

In the world of electronic music there is almost allways 2-3 minute build ups, and not many radio mixes of each track.

This can be a problem when having a party and a track lasts for 7 minutes with 3 of them is a buildup that not everyone would like to listen to.

It would be nice to have a feature like this that i can change on each track, just drag 2 buttons to a start and end point. and maybe have a 3-5 second fade on where i choose to set them.

Made a quick illustration on what i mean. Spotify proposition.jpg

100% agree. This would be an absolute game changer 🙏🏻

This feature is still being requested TODAY, 12 years later.  Other music platforms have this, why not Spotify?

I would absolutely love this feature. I will often find a song that has a particular section I am just addicted to listening to and I'd love to be able to repeat that section without having to constantly alt-tab into spotifuggle to reset.

This is actually a great idea, probably would be a game changing feature. I understand that creating a new feature would be a lot of pain for the development team, because I'm a developer too and I know that building software up takes a lot of effort. Now I really think this feature would be great because you could build up playlists in which you could flow many different music together. If you would like someone to volunteer, I'd like to try to build something like that up, as a hobby. I know Python, C++, Java and I have some playlists that could really use this feature, so please contact-me if you're interested. BTW, right now I do these kind of mixing with audio editting software.

Wow! Twelve years, over 2,500 up votes and 42 pages of written requests for this feature and still no attention whatsoever from the development team? The last status update was in 2018, NEARLY SIX YEARS AGO! So sad.

I agree. To be honest I've long given up!

Keeping this alive... This seems like a relatively easy feature to implement, it's confusing how it hasn't been added after so long considering how much users could benefit from it.

I am writing to suggest a feature that I believe would be highly beneficial for both users and artists: the ability to crop songs. While many listeners, including myself, greatly appreciate the entirety of an artist's creative work, there are often specific portions of songs that we thoroughly enjoy and wish to focus on, while other parts may not be as appealing.

By introducing a song cropping feature, Spotify could enhance user experience by allowing listeners to customize their music playback. This would not only increase user satisfaction but also encourage more engagement with the platform.

I hope you will consider this suggestion and look forward to the potential implementation of such a feature.

Allow people when they are saving or liking a song to save a particular part from the song if they want to do so and only the part they saved would be visible in their playlist. It would be beneficial for both the app and the people using the app for a variety of reasons like:

  1. Customers would be able to have a better experience using the app as they’ll get more control
  2. Customers would spend more time on the app leading to more plays
  3. More artists would have a chance to get recognition
  4. Artists would be able to get detailed insights into what parts of their actual song are performing well with audience.

    and many more reasons.

Hi, I like to listen to one or two paragraphs of a song and then change to the next one.

My idea is to play the famous part of a song until it hits the chorus and then change to the next song - kinda like what a DJ does. Please could you make this feature available for playlists and songs which are queued.

This feature will help especially for dance playlists where at a house party people can perform hook steps of the particular part of song rather than dancing to the entire song.
