[Mobile] [Other] Smart Shuffle toggle setting in settings menu

Smart shuffle is a fun way to discover new songs, but it comes at a cost. Want to reshuffle your queue? Bam, wait a few seconds longer. Want to unshuffle your playlist? Bam, no longer works, and goes to a completely random place in the playlist.

To me this is an unwanted complication, and I'd much rather be able to choose in the settings menu whether I want to enable the Smart Shuffle feature, or disable it.

Hey! It looks like your suggestion is growing up fast and it's amazing! We are going to change its status to 'Good Suggestion' now and we hope it continues being supported by more and more users.
Thanks again for your suggestion. We really appreciate it 🙂

I'm very open to suggestions for a better platform. Recommendations?

How is this STILL not implemented??? Spotify is the worst I miss GPM.

STOP FORCING YOUR **bleep** ON US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  IF I want your recommendations I'll turn on smart shuffle.  OTHERWISE I WANT IT OFF FOR ALL PLAYLISTS!

Not only is Smart Shuffle never good at curating a list of relevant or similar songs, it rarely works. So even if I don’t care to switch to my actual shuffle, I can be in the process of queuing songs and then smart shuffle will suddenly decide it’s not working (with no change of song whatsoever) changing me back to regular shuffle and deleting the songs I was queuing. The fact this feature cant be turned off is arcane and frankly pushy as a company because you know nobody would have it on if there was an option. Been a Spotify member since 2017 or before and I get more disappointed and closer to leaving every time an update gets pushed out.

Please just remove it all together. Spotify shuffle feature is already bad as is, this made it 10x worse. If I want to discover music, I'll go to a radio or my discover weekly, or someones random playlist, the options go on. Its a completley needless feature thats being forced on us. While your at it, make shuffle actually random! God I miss my ipod.

Forcing Smart Shuffle on users is a disgrace. Spotify shouldn't be waiting for this to be 'voted up' they should be admitting their mistake and giving users the option. I don't pay a large monthly subscription to have Spotify screwing with my lists. I have lists of up to 6k songs, I have set them up intentionally, I want to play random, and I don't want them chucking in songs I DID NOT select.

It's been a week since my Spotify Premium Family Plan officially ended, and I have to say, I'm not really missing it. I've moved over to a trial of Amazon Music Unlimited family plan, and just so everyone is aware, there is now a tool available to migrate your playlists and albums from Spotify to Amazon Music (or several other options). This was the biggest holdup for me, having amassed a HUGE collection of playlists that only I can access. I was pleasantly surprised to find a somewhat easy way to move all my stuff to Amazon Music with TuneMyMusic. I say "somewhat" because it bombed out on me halfway through, but I think that was because I have more playlists than Amazon Music was able to absorb without a premium subscription being active (testing and/or confirmation needed).

My family of 5 already has quite a few Alexa devices, so it was pretty easy to make the transition from Spotify to Amazon Music, TBH. There are definitely things I miss about Spotify, specifically the dedicated Windows app, but overall I do not miss Spotify at all. I am SO happy that I can hit the shuffle button now, whether it be from a web browser, my phone, or Android Auto, and it will do the BASIC FUNCTION it was intended for!

Full disclosure, I honestly thought I would put up a good fight for a month or so, then see that Spotify wasn't caving, then crawl back to their otherwise superior service, but now? Heck, I'll take a subpar service over being forced to listen to music I don't want to ANY DAY. I've even begun uninstalling Spotify from my laptops/PCs wherever I have it installed, because I'm that sold on any non-Spotify platform.

And I just have to say, Amazon Music seems a bit better at recognizing the fact that I like Christian music when it comes to recommending new songs. I got some great random (shuffled) tracks thrown my way within the last day. I can't remember how many tracks I added to my migrated "Starred" playlist, because there were that many awesome songs I came across. I don't even know how many times I said "Alexa, what song is this?" Because the randomization was THAT GOOD.

Amazon Music isn't perfect by any means, and Spotify without Smart Shuffle kicks it FIRMLY to the curb. But hey, since Smart Shuffle is here to stay, guess what. I'm not.

yeah I hate having to toggle past 'smart shuffle' every. single. time.

the problem is essentially that when I go to a playlist and hit play, I only want one of two things: I either want to 1.) listen to the entire playlist, in the order displayed on the screen, or 2.) I want to 'shuffle all' and hear them in random order. I never ever want to listen to anything but the tracks in the playlist I've picked. Never. Ever. I never want to hear other music. So as it stands now, smart shuffle literally only exists as an obstacle for me, that I need to circumnavigate almost every time I play a playlist. That's crazy, and only leads to resentment.

To me, 'smart shuffle' is already covered by the auto-generated playlists - spotify already seems to try its best to create genre playlists for you based on songs you've already heard and liked - and the dynamic radio station feature. What's the difference, in the end, between smart shuffle, and starting a radio station based on a playlist? Don't you end up with the same end result - some of your chosen tracks, interspersed with other recommended similar tracks - regardless?

So the reason I don't want to use it is - it's a redundant feature that gets in the way of the functionality I'm trying to engage with.

I advice EVERYONE to jump onto their chat, get an advisor and ask for the status on this matter.

Smart shuffle should be a setting I can turn off i just don't like it, especially since I've spent the time to curate a playlist.
