Multiple playback queues

With Spotify’s push into podcasts I am routinely switching between music and podcasts.

This means constantly losing my place in a given playlist or having to navigate back to podcast episode I was mid way through.

Having the option to have multiple players, with their own queue and controls would eliminate this back and forth problem.

Idea: long pressing a song, album or podcast should allow the user to “open in new player+”.

This would pause the current player and begin playing the selected media in a seperate player. The user would now see two seperate players at the bottom of the screen.

Anything the user queues will be added to the top player (which is the currently playing or last played). User can switch the play order by dragging the player position to the top or close a player by swiping to delete (basic iOS list functionality).

So I listen to spotify on numerous devices. I don't always want them to sync their playlist and queues to sync. For example, on my phone when I'm out and about, it's a different queue/playlist im listening to, and I want it to remain that way. I don't want it to sync when I get home and reset that when I turn on my computer or open the app when my computer is on because it has it's own playlist and queue.

I think there should be an option that prevents them from syncing if you don't want them to, or to retain their respective playlist/queues.

I use my phone for listening to podcast or music on Bluetooth headphones, but only for music in the car. I never have time for a full podcast episode when I'm driving, but if I last played a podcast Spotify will try to play the podcast whenever it connects to the car.

I would like an option for each connected device to store/resume last played track, episode, or playlist, only for that device. So I then I could turn this on for my headphones and and whenever Spotify connects to my headphones it will switch to podcast or whatever last played while connected to headphones, and then unpair and connect to anything else it will revert back to whatever track or playlist it was last playing before and not resume the podcast.

Hello! I have a feeling that many Spotify users have experienced this issue:

You are listening to a playlist/radio and discover a band you like, so you want to check their discography, but at the same time, you don't want to lose the playlist/queue/radio that you currently have

Yes, you can go to the band's profile and add a whole album to the queue - but that is not very convenient, and it works only if you don't have a queue already (otherwise you'll have to rearrange it).

Solution?

Add Listening Sessions aka Tabs - basically similar to opening a new tab in your browser, you have a tab with music content you want to go back to. To make it easier on the system and avoid doomstacking the tabs as if you're on a late night Wikipedia run, the amount of Listening Sessions can be limited - say, 3 at the same time.

This would be extremely useful for discovering new music and exploring new artists you find through playlists.

Thank you.

I'd like to see playlists running simultaneously with their queues maintained. Sometimes, I'd be listening to a Playlist on shuffle and when I open another playlist or album, I'd like to find the queue on the first playlist maintained and not reshuffled.
