[Music] ASIO Output Support

Please can you add support for an ASIO audio output device?

As a owner of a separate headphone DAC + Amp, I get much better quality music when I'm using the bit-perfect ASIO output rather than DirectSound, which changes the audio bitstream before it reaches the DAC. ASIO output would be a great compliment to the Spotify high-quality streaming.

Thanks!

"AFAIK Windows Mixer resampling doesn't happen if there is no other stream in the mix and if the bit rate and sample rate matches. "

I have to admit my audio system is still using Windows 7, and I don't know what might have been improved by Win 10. But If the Windows volume control is operational and system sounds are mixed into your audio stream, doesn't that mean resampling is taking place? Yes, it is less disastrous if Windows is set to use the same sample rate as your input stream, but I certainly don't have the patience to dig down into the audio control panel every time I change between 44.1 and 48 sources...

To my ears and brain, even non-exclusive WASAPI degrades the sound slightly over WASAPI Exclusive or ASIO. Having to reach over to the analog volume control beside my amp is a small price for better sound. (Though I wish there was a way to bring YouTube volume up more in line with Qobuz!)

Anyone who doubts bypassing Windows mixer with Spotify yeilds noticeable quality inprovements should install JRiver and enable its WDM driver (google the instructions). The WDM driver is a virtual sound device that passes the stream with no or minimal changes to JRiver and you can then send it directly to hardware via WASAPI or ASIO.

WASAPI with exclusive device access would be really nice on Windows, and even better with a lossless codec instead of OGG that Spotify uses today.

Running Fidelify at the moment. Sound quality is just that much better!

Unfortunately the interface is worse.

C'mon Spotify! show the world you are serious about high quality music!

No ASIO ? Poor, very poor indeed. This means we can't listen to high quality audio when connected to external DACs. Not happy...

I switched to Spotify to give it an honest go because I heard it's really good for music discovery. But I hate that both in Windows and Android, I'm at the whims of the OS audio stack. No ASIO and no direct-to-USB audio in Android has me seriously rethinking my subscription. I'll probably jump ship back to Tidal if nothing is done to fix these issues. Spotify is more convenient and has better social integration, but I'm more interested in how my music actually sounds than any of that fluff.

I really need ASIO (or configure output) because ONLY spotify hangs when I use my external AudioBox USB.. The onboard realtek is not an option. thank you

I love how the original request was made 6 years ago and people still post here like Spotify pay attention to it's paying customers.  Just have to accept the fact that spotify does not give a **bleep**.. I hope some other service replaces them and they go the way of the blackberry

I would appreciate an ASIO mode for Spotify. Please bring this up with the developers, this would impress many passionate music lovers! Thanks for listening.
