Touch preview removal on last iOS vers. update looks like it hasn't been a great idea. You are on time to restore it, one of the best Spotify features.

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea!

 

This feature was originally removed from the app due to low engagement. There was a statement at the time which you can check out at https://community.spotify.com/t5/iOS-iPhone-iPad/Touch-Preview-on-iOS-removal/td-p/1857905.

 

We're keeping this idea as 'Not Right Now', as it's not something we have any immediate plans to add back onto the app.

 

If we do have any new info to share we'll check back in here with a new status.

The touch preview was the single killer feature for me keeping me from switching to Apple Music. I swore by this feature, using it several times a day to browse my music. It was my absolute favorite part of Spotify! I'm crushed.

I have left 1 star review on iTunes for app, saying they'll get other 4 stars back when touch preview is reinstated, if more people do that maybe they'll listen

To be honest, I felt somehow annoyed by it. If you consider bringing it back, please as something you can turn off.

@mupet0000 Just a little remark from a long term perspective. Removing features is extremely smart. It ist he only way to avoid creating an unmaintainable untestable monster over time. From a user perspective, you get something that is more stable, less buggy with reasonable update cycles.

 

On the other hand, I would love to see it announced/documented somewhere (maybe it is and I don't know) not be surprised with every update.

Spotify, you have until the new year (2018) to bring this back, otherwise I will be joining Apple Music and taking my six-member family with me.

 

Low-engagement rate, so what? Why would you remove something others enjoy when it wasn't disturbing those who didn't care for it?

 

The level of incompetence at Spotify is astouding.

Why would you take away one of the best features. When deciding what music service to subscribe to, the preview feature was the reason I chose Spotify over Apple Music. If it’s not returned I really have no reason to stay with Spotify. Really disappointed.

Agreed 100% with the other 24 pages of comments here.  I used this all the time to determien what to listen to and had become one of my most used feature.  It might be time to look at other streaming services as there are quite a few good ones out there now...

The single best feature of spotify was the touch preview. This one feature is what gave the edge over other streaming services for me. Please rethink the removal of this feature.

Please bring back touch preview it made it so much easier to discover new music in a seamless way without having to tap each song and skip through it. PLEASE all of us are begging you

What a terrible decision.... and how interesting that you say you are trying to make the experience as enjoyable as possible, yet there is no way this feature ever took away from any user's experience. Now, with this regression, the app has become must less enjoyable as you can't simply preview a song you've never heard before with a simple touch and hold. So, like some other user said, it seems like you took this away either due to technical difficulties or artist disputes. Interestingly enough, you now HAVE TO press play on a song, even just to preview it. Hmm.. More plays for artists? Whatever the case, this was a BAD decision. I will be much happier using Spotify when it has returned.
