[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

I bet them not implementing this (obviously not well desired) feature has ZERO to do with this:

SPOTIFY, if you were just truthful with your customers... nope it's better for us to create rumors and spread bad PR.

I hate to come here every half a year to see that airplay 2 support is not yet implemented. Tragic

It’s June of 2025 and still no news on this feature request. I came here when I dig info why there’s a delay on 2 sec when I listen music through my both HomePod speakers. I’m frustrated

Spotify has always been the big bird in my eyes in terms of streaming, now they are falling behind in so many ways and i’ve heard they are not making a profit at all.. no wonder seeing this is how slow their software development process is.. they are living in a old memory of what they used to be.. sad to see of course

It’s almost 2026! Wake up Spotify, stop acting like a stubborn kid and give us a HomeKit integration. You really did not have to wait this long for votes to know this is an idea that should already have been implemented.

GIVE US SPOTIFY HOMEKIT INTEGRATION!

Still no implementation, really frustrating!

I've been a subscriber of Spotify since they launch in May 2012, and last week I cancelled my family subscription and moved to Apple Music. When they asked why am I cancelling my subscription:
- Lack of HomePod support
- Lack for true shuffle
- Never listen to their users
- Constant price increases
And a few other reasons.
But i'm glad I did it, I guess its the best way to tell them something, is by giving your money to someone else. Since I've added HomePods around my house, i've been paying for Spotify and Apple Music, and ended up getting better service from Apple Music than Spotify.
- Better shuffle (doesn't repeat songs on big playlists)
- HomePod support
- Lossless Dolby Atmos music
- Pays artists more per stream
So, long story short i'm glad i'm not paying AU$28/mo to a company that is greedy and doesn't listen to their customers.

5+ years later, still getting notifications on this thread. Spotify, incredible job.

Many years after i left spotify because of this I don’t regret. I ended at youtube music (YM) which is included in youtube premium. YM music is now much better then in den beginning, works native with homepod and i also habe ad free youtube. I will be hard to get me back to spotify, even if I was willing to switch back if spotify implemented this in the beginning.
