[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

Why is it taking so long?

I want to vote for this idea but the button is inactivated

I tried Chat and the operative had never even heard of the concept. This despite apparently one can do it on a Apple watch. (?)

Spotify are paid for access to music and it is unimaginable that whoever has decision making powers is unaware of Apple and their policy of excluding competitors from their ecosystem and that, as best I can establish, they have now opened the door.

Ahh. Signing in is not enough. One has to create a name. Then one can vote. So I did.

Note  the below. So they are capeable. They just haven't done it for the Homepod.

Use voice commands to control your music and podcasts with Siri.

Voice commands work with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch running iOS 13 or above, and Apple Watch running watchOS 6 or above. You can also use voice commands with Airplay.

Come on Spotify, work on this please! We've been waiting for so long...

tryingtothink

Yes. Excluded by Apple but when this stops we are excluded by Spotify themselves. Who we pay. Chat assistants entirely unaware of the issue. Not that it is likely the CEO listens to them. Hugely unimpressive.

Again, Spotify sued Apple for this function. So Spotify is aware of this functions. More likely that there is some internal political reason for not implementing this with priority A.
Very disappointing...

I hope Spotify implement this function soon. I love my HomePods and Spotify, having them being able to work seamlessly together would much much improve my experience.

Is there a product update from Spotify on this? Feel like I’ve been silently waiting on this feature since I first time my HomePod.
Spotify widgets are great. Spotify on Apple Watch is great. This is missing piece, especially with the HomePod mini now out.

It has been very disappointing not to revcieve any updates from Spotify regarding this implementation. If they plan to work on that it would be great to hear about it. And we as Spotify Customers couldn't care less about their beef with Apple, we would like to be able to use the same features across all platforms where it is possible, and we know it for a fact that they can make it happen on HomePod too.

Spotify, do what is right. You have all that in your company values.

The core values of Spotify are:
  • Innovation.
  • Passion.
  • Collaboration.
  • Transparency.
  • Fairness.
