[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

They appear to be making a point but it is hard to work out quite why. A
bit like dealing with a sulking toddler. Except toddlers don't know any
better and Spotify does. But doesn't care.
I see this is about to hit page 100.

So this is still not a thing? I’m in the market for a HomePod mini / nest audio / etc for xmas. Seeing as everything else I have is Apple (with the exception of my music streaming service), the HomePod seems like the winning bet.

if Spotify doesn’t support it, it’s unfortunately Spotify that is going to be switched out rather than going with another device that would not play with my existing devices as nicely.

I have recently bought homepods for myself and my kids. As homepod had opened to third party music services I thought Spotify would be the first to integrate. With the whole crying in the past about bad integration with apple devices, it seems like Spotify is more busy being woke virtue signaling and crying when Joe Rogan said something wrong than being a music service that works on their user experience.

Now I am thinking of switching to Apple Music, I wanted to switch to family subscription.

It’s November 2021 and there’s no update? Come on Spotify, this would be so simple and a huge win to keep HomePod users from moving to Apple Music.

Any updates?

Kragothius

I think I have to quit and change to Apple Music.
Month with no Information about the Integration...why should I pay for Spotify when other Services are more interested in integrations?

How many comments are needed to bring attention to this? More than 100 pages? Being a software engineer myself, I understand that such an integration shouldn't take THAT MUCH time. Come on, it's hard not to conclude that Spotify has intentionally decided not to implement it. They haven't even said a simple "yes, we're on it".

It doesn't seem like Spotify cares about their users considering the number of votes on this.

Squuiid

They actually really don’t care and are trying to make a point by refusing to implement this. Rather stubborn, and pathetic IMO.

As previously mentioned, Deezer is a better option for anyone who doesn’t want to go with Apple Music but wants HomePod and lossless support.

TrueDnk

This is a total joke - how can they still not be offering it… how many people have come here, seen this and then just cancelled. Why does Spotify make it so hard to support them…

PleaseSupportHomePod

Amazing that this isn’t implemented yet. Please don’t alienate your iOS subscribers. I really don’t want us to switch to Apple Music, but unfortunately we will have to if this doesn’t get the attention it deserves.
