[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

Nothing I fear.
Just in case it helps I have written to Alastair Stevenson at What HiFi who
wrote and article about the Homepod 2.

whathifi.com/features/the-homepod-2s-great-but-i-want-one-more-thing-from-apple

I have written to a number of mags and journalists in the past and never
had a response.
Should anyone else fancy writing to him he can be mailed via the article.

I can't see anything but publicity changing this situation. None of the
many posts have.

I wrote

Dear Mr Stevenson

I noted your article on the Homepod 2. I agree absolutely aboyu retro
compatibility and the avoidance of redundancy.
I doubt that Apple agree, no matter what they say.

I do appreciate that processing power can become an issue of course.

On the topic of big tech and what they say and what they do

Have you seen this enormous thread?

(I included a link but suspect that it would be filtered if I included it
in this post)

Spotify wanted access to the Apple ecosystem.
I, and many others presumed that if it was granted they would take it up.
We bought Homepods etc. (Better still in stereo) and still no
implementation.

In other words, 'what they say and what they do'.

I have written to What HiFi before, and Stereophile at least twice, and I
think to the Guardian and maybe others, one loses track. To resounding
silence.

I am surprised this is not newsworthy.

Yours sincerely
matedavid

We need this, it's about time Spotify! We've been waiting for Siri supporting Spotify cipommands on the homepod and homepod mini.

Does spotify understand that it's easy to switch to Apple Music. People are buying speakers you like it or not and if it's complicated for user to play music they are going to switch. Therefore spotify not winning anything here, just loosing customers because of their previous beef.

Interesting to see people still begging for this functionality.

Here is a crazy idea, how about stop paying and move on?

What is the point of posting the same arguments over and over again for something that has not happened for over 2 years???

So "pretty please with sugar on top" (Mr. Wolf), stop your subscription and go listen to your music somewhere else, that is the best POST you can write.

@ziggy7

What is the point of your comment? If the implementation of the feature doesn't interest you, why are you in this thread? Here is a crazy idea, how about you stop telling other users what they should do and mind your own business? That would be the best thing you could do.

Annd now even the retired and now new again HomePod is re-released.. meanwhile more than two years have passed and nothing from Spotify.. please please add it! We want Spotify. We’re paying our premium accounts. We want to use home pods. We know it’s possible together. Please give us full integration. 🙏🏼

@Slim08

lol Look who's back. So weird how you love to chime in on something that doesn't concern you. A bizarre way to entertain yourself.

Yeah if government doesn’t change anything don’t ask again just move
country… Well apple has monopoly already just want to elaborate that
spotify should consider this as an important thing for their customers…
