[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

AirPlay 2 and HomePod integration NOW. The integration of AirPlay 2 is just one simple click for a developer. You can bring it with an update this week. It’s only your turn Spotify. It’s not fair. You get all our money but give us not the standard features. You are the biggest streaming service… Today…. Tomorrow it could rightly be another…

It was Nokia with similar acts

It feels like Spotify are holding out on this to get at Apple… without realising that it's hurting Spotify customers. With six HomePods, I'm more invested there than I am with Spotify, so if it's not forthcoming soon I'm going to switch.

I get they're **bleep** at the App Store situation, but I'm not interested in being held hostage.

Seeing as this post has now hit the 6,000 vote mark, I think it’s about time to get this ball rolling.

The truth is, they only might if everyone who voted on this post also cancelled their Spotify Premium subscription and cited this as a reason. Even then, good luck. They’re still just out to spite Apple.

Oh, I’ve already left Spotify for Apple Music because of this and won’t be returning. While Dolby Atmos is a gimmick, I think it does improve a lot of songs, and I love Apple Music radio. Never would have switched if it wasn’t for this. Thanks Spotify!

Any ETA?

Your customers have been waiting several years already.

this it the #2 most requested item on your "Live Ideas" list... i think is beyond time that you "Played Fair" and did the right thing for your users.. Your claims of Apple being anti-competitive are starting to look very hypocritical.

ETA? We need this…

Nearly two years later nothing has happened. Nice job, Spotify. I cancelled my Premium because I got tired of waiting for this. I "remain committed to subscribing" again if at some point you bother to do what you were so loudly whining to get from Apple.  No Homepod support, no subscription.

First time posting here, and I want to lend support for native app support on the HomePod.  I've used the Echo devices in the past, but those devices are not truly audiophile.   And who knows what Amazon is going to take that product line.   I feel more comfortable with Apple.
