[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

I hate that I have to decide between privacy and Spotify. I switched out all of my Alexa devices for HomePod so that I feel secure that my data is not being sold just to find out Spotify refuses to make an app for HomePod. I’m confused as to why. It works on literally all my other apple devices.

Well, Spotify is already a great competitor to Apple Music for Apple customer by the simple fact they have the best playlist on the market... But if Spotify decide to limit features on Apple devices, this advantage disappear. Which is a terrible decision for the business...

To my point of view, the reason here seams only politics. Which is a shame. As a customer, we don't give a f*ck off you're little war, to know, as we said in France, who's have the bigger d*ck... And the move made by Apple, opening the HomePod to every service point Spotiy as the moron.

Let's Spam them on Twitter here

Yeah so Apple implemented in the iOS 17 and HomePod 17 Public Beta that you can, if your iPhone is nearby, play Music by saying: „Hey Siri play … on Spotify“. This works over Airplay (1). And you can play songs, artists and playlist (and podcasts). But you can‘t add songs to a playlist via siri. But I guess Apple was another time faster than Spotify.

Please implement home pod support. The whole point of paying for Spotify is so I can listen across devices. If that’s not implemented when it can easily be that is a deal breaker. I’ll be canceling when ios17 comes out.

I will cancel my subscription to Spotify and change to a competitor if this feature isn’t added by the end of 2023.

Cancel now. I don’t understand why you would wait for a feature they have no intention of implementing.

Between not supporting this and raising prices today to the same price as Apple Music $10.99 I guess there is no reason not to give that 6 month Apple Music free trial a try.

We putting money on this? 😉

Please add this support! I’ve already tried Apple music and while I ended up coming back to Spotify, I am disappointed that you’re purposely not adding Native support to spite Apple.

Once Apple figures out their interface I will make the hop once again (and likely stay there).

Please add spotify connect on homepods.
