[iOS] Implement Native HomePod Support

Details

Just this week at WWDC (June 22, 2020), Apple announced support for third party music services on the HomePod.  I'm requesting that Spotify implement native support for the HomePod such that one or even multiple HomePods will appear in the "Connect to a device" menu on any Apple device WITHOUT having to connect through Airplay.  This will also allow users to ask Siri to play songs from Spotify on their HomePod(s).

Apple is opening up the HomePod, and I know there are many other HomePod users that would love to have native Spotify support on their speaker.

Please upvote this idea to garner attention for it.  Thank you Spotify and the Spotify community.  Let's get this implemented so it's ready for general iOS 14 release this September!

And we are probably the tip of the iceberg. How many have not found the
thread or have simply left? Perhaps these sums are just pocket money to big
tech.

I've had enough of the silence on this simple feature request that should have been launched years ago. It's not that complicated to write a tiny bit of code to talk to the existing Spotify APIs.

I think we need to stop unsubscribing in a steady but small stream of users over this issue. It's too easy for Spotify to put their head in the sand, they probably do not investigate the causes of customer churn or have internally come to some BS rationalisation that they can hide this from their Shareholders and Board.

We need to send a more direct message and all cancel on the same day for this company to take notice.

Given the HomePod integration should not take more than a week to implement for a single developer, I propose we give them 7 days from today. Let's make July 27th Cancel Spotify Day if the HomePod integration is not available.

I will also encourage all my family members to cancel on the same day and assist them moving playlists to Apple Music.

Our custom is in your hands Spotify.

Yes, there is a lot of talk and no action in this thread. Don't just sit there and complain. Time to put on your big boy pants and fight back.

I have already cancelled my subscription.

I can only agree to the above.

I have also already cancelled my subscription about 2 months ago.

But yes #CancelSpotifyDay

I like the idea of an Official Cancel Spotify Day 😂vote with your vallet and make your voice heard.

I'm myself on the trial of Apple Music, and by far it's no Spotify in terms of UX/UI, but it's ok and works with my HomePod and other branded airplay 2 speakers. So yeah, Spotify doesn't really care about us, apparently 500.000$ as KevinKohlhagen mentions, is apparently a drop in the ocean for Spotify to ignore us users.

So I'll give Apple Music a go and cancel my Spotify Duo subscription when the trial runs out....

Just so you know how it is done: You can transfer your entire library i.e. all playlists from Spotify to Apple Music using https://www.tunemymusic.com
It is free for batches of 1000 songs at a time. Since I am having almost 24000 songs in my Spotify library, I could have either done it multiply times. Or, what I did, I just payed once 4$ and 50cents for Premium version and unsubscribed immediately from the service. I can still keep the premium features till my payed month is over.
Btw, I am still on my 3-months trial on Apple Music.

That’s very helpful. Thanks. Spotify could be giving all the money they
don’t care about to aspiring musicians. Oh wait! Maybe they do care about
money. They give less than the other big tech last time I heard. And the
others probably don’t give enough.

I walked away a while ago. Haven’t looked back.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I loved Spotify and used it for years. This issue and Spotify's handling of it actually made me switch to Apple Music. It's so much nicer being able to not have to use airplay to play my music on my HomePods. That being said, I still prefer Spotify to apple music in any other category, but this is just too important a degree of usability for me to stay with Spotify, especially with how slow they've been addressing the issue. If HomePod support is introduced before Apple can introduce some other feature to make me stay with them, I'll be switching back to Spotify, guaranteed.

Full ack with JazzFunk26.
I just converted all my Playlists to Apple Music to give them the chance to know me better. The UI/UX is better at spotify but this missing native homepod support makes me leave spotify. Bye guys
